We are so excited to have our students back at Riddle! It was a lot of fun popping into all of the classrooms last week and checking on our students. They are so excited to see their friends and to be back at school.
I know our carpool lane was crazy last week! Ha! It will keep getting better, I promise! All students are usually picked up the first day which makes it hard. Students are started to get the procedures and routines down. Our teachers are practicing with them daily. Please be sure you let your child's teacher know by noon when there is a dismissal change. Teachers often can't check their email during the day. It is important to keep your child's dismissal the same as much as possible. Thanks for your help with this!
School Supply Packages are ON SALE NOW for $45 each. These will be sold on a first come, first serve basis. Please bring exact cash as we won't have change. We have 1 second grade pack, 1 third grade pack, and 5 fifth grade packs available.
School breakfast and lunches will cost money this year. Please take a look at this "Back to Paid" flyer for more information.
Please complete this short survey to let us know how you prefer to receive campus information. Thanks!
***Parents - we will not have lunch visitors for the first 2 weeks of school. After that, parents are welcome to come and have lunch with their child starting on August 25th. You must have identification to come into the building.
Please continue to follow our website and social media for updated information and look for continued additions to our list of Frequently Asked Questions.
Let's make it a great week!

Important Notice
Parents,
Please note, in order to limit traffic in and out of the building for security purposes, lunches and other items need to be sent with your child every morning. Parents will not be permitted to enter the building to drop off these items each day. There will be grade-level bins located outside to drop off forgotten items like jackets, backpacks, and lunches. These bins will not be ideal places for food items due to the heat, so please send food items with your children. These bins will be checked by a teacher from the grade level once a day. Please plan accordingly.
Carlisle's Column
Regular and punctual attendance is the greatest factor in school success; therefore, a student’s first concern should be to attend class regularly. Being absent unnecessarily from school impairs a student’s opportunity to succeed in studies and also indirectly encourages the development of poor attitudes toward schoolwork and other obligations. A significant part of the learning process occurs in direct instruction from the teacher and the interaction between students and teachers within the classroom; completing makeup work, worksheets and other assignments cannot take the place of these essential interactions in the classroom. Communications between students, families and the school district personnel are important to understanding how attendance plays a role in a student’s overall success. We must all work together for a student to have the best educational experience possible and to take advantage of all of the opportunities available!

Attendance Procedures
When your student must be absent for any reason, written notification is required. All parents should use the “attendance reporting button” on the campus website. Notes to teachers, office staff, etc. via email or otherwise cannot officially be logged without sending it through the button. Please look for the “Report An Absence” button located in the top, right corner of the Riddle website.

These next weeks, I will be conducting Minute Meetings with students. This is a quick check-in to allow me to personally introduce myself to your student and get to know them better. I'm excited to meet everyone.
Please do not hesitate to reach out if you need anything.

Nurse Notes
Kindergarten and First grade parents please remember to pack extra clothes to change into for accidents that happen at school! This will be super helpful for your student to have something familiar to wear if they have an accident.
Please remember to continue to bring in medication forms and action plans! I cannot give any medications without them.
The only nonprescription medication for students I can give are Tylenol, Advil, Benadryl, and Tums when you provide the medication and sign the Medication: Parent/Guardian Request Form. After 10 doses are given, a doctor's note is required! Please email me if you have any questions 🙂
Thank you!

The 2022-23 School Calendar is Here!
Please keep a copy of the FISD School Calendar on hand for the 2022-23 school year. This calendar tells you all dates that students are out of school for the entire year. It is extremely important you try to plan all holidays and trips around the days students are out of school. Students who miss more than 10 school days will face truancy consequences.
Receive Text Messages for Campus and District Updates
As Frisco ISD works to communicate timely information to parents and staff during this period of school closure, we encourage you to ensure you are receiving text messages. The District utilizes the School Messenger system to deliver text messages, straight to your mobile phone with important information about events, school closings, safety alerts and more. You may recognize the School Messenger name as the system that currently sends emails and phone calls.
Many of you have opted into text message service, which has primarily been reserved for emergency communication. If you are uncertain as to whether you have opted in, you may participate in this free service simply by sending a text message of “Y” or “Yes” to our school’s code number, 67587.
You can also opt-out of these messages at any time by simply replying to one of our messages with “Stop”.
SchoolMessenger is compliant with the Student Privacy PledgeTM, so you can rest assured that your information is safe and will never be given or sold to anyone.

Get a Background Check and Explore Volunteer Opportunities
FISD Board Policy requires that each volunteer, chaperone, and/or mentor undergo a background check before working with students. Frisco ISD uses VOLY, a volunteer management system, to complete background checks and to post volunteer opportunities. To work with students on campus, you will need to create a VOLY account by visiting https://friscoisd.voly.org.
You will be prompted to complete the background check during your VOLY account creation process. Keep an eye on your inbox for your background check approval (the process can take up to 3-5 business days). VOLY will send you customized e-mails with opportunities that may interest you for volunteering.
Family and community members must complete a background check once every year starting in July.
If you need help, email volunteer@friscoisd.org, call 469-633-6860 or complete a ticket through the VOLY support system.
