News from the Principal
Greetings WE Families,
It has been an interesting week for sure. I hope you were able to have some time to rest over the long weekend. As the weather changed it is my hope that you all were provided timely communication for the changes and most importantly stayed warm and dry. The delayed opening is always a challenge but our students and staff are resilient and flexible. They made the adjustments to their schedules very well. I am looking forward to this arctic blast moving out and some warmer temperatures. We are continually reflecting upon our safety procedures and communication so that we can provide you the most current information as decisions are made.
I want to extend an invitation to our PTA Parent Engagement Math Night next Thursday January 25th. Bring the children and we will share updates from PTA, share some helpful learning about math fact fluency. We will wrap things up with time to enjoy games with your child to build number sense and number fact fluency. We will share ways to engage students in learning their math facts. This is an important skill for students to develop so they can solve mathematical problems with a deeper understanding and accuracy. We hope to see you at 6:00 in the cafeteria.
Your grateful principal,
Christine Knox

Counselor's Corner
NED's Mindset Mission is coming to Westchester Thursday January 18th! This is a character education program that centers around three important messages that help students become leaders of their own learning: Never give up, Encourage others and Do your best. This Mission connects with our EL Design Principles (Perseverance, Collaboration, and Craftsmanship), as well as the Westchester Way (W.E. are Responsible, Respectful, and Safe). During NED's assembly, students will learn about the importance of these life skills while enjoying storytelling, magic, humor and yo-yo tricks.
