Monday, October 14th- Visit from Davison Fire Station truck 9:00 and 1:00 at Central/GSRP, Poverty Matters workshop at GCI for administrators. (Susan)

Tuesday, October 15th- Picture Day, C.A.P.E Event for parents and children 4:30-6:00 Central. Miss Jennie will work child care. The GISD will be providing two staff as well and we have a volunteer from Davison St. Johns as well.

Wednesday, October 16th- Potluck at GSRP- Theme "Breakfast", Evening parent teacher conferences at Cardinal's Nest and K-12, Amy Hamlin, community nurse student volunteering at Central/GSRP in p.m.

Thursday, October 17th- Parent teacher conferences at Cardinal's Nest, Teacher Work day for GSRP lead and associate teachers, non-work day for latchkey caregivers, lunch caregivers, and child care providers, Cardinal's Nest classroom caregivers/assistant teachers work with lead teacher during conferences. Amy Hamlin, community nurse student volunteering in p.m. at Central GSRP. Possible intake appointments for final GSRP student enrollment.

Friday, October 18th- No school for students or teachers! Enjoy your day off.

Tuesday, October 22nd- Field Trip for GSRP. Cardinal's Nest p.m. GSRP students will need to be dropped off at the Central/GSRP location to board the field trip bus by 12:50.

Friday, October 25th- Teacher work day at Central in computer lab for GSRP and Cardinal's Nest staff- Mi.Registry training. Latchkey staff can also attend for 3 free licensing hours.

October 28th-October 31st- Intersession 1.0

Monday, November 4th- Return to school and round three of new GSRP students starting at Central/GSRP.

As you know, we will once again be offering latchkey during intersession. Latchkey will be located at Hill in the a.m. and p.m. Students that are signed up for session 3 of latchkey and intersession are eligible to attend latchkey. Latchkey registration was part of the intersession registration. DCER has provided us with rosters of the students that will attend a.m. or p.m. latchkey during the intersession week. We have enough latchkey students during intersession to employ two staff members in both the a.m. and p.m. sessions. *Jamie Mather will be teaching in a classroom during intersession and Ann Schell will be acting as secretary with intersession coordinator Tracy Bennett.

I will meet with the latchkey intersession staff members this week to get a.m. and p.m. attendance rosters, sign in sheets, emergency medical information, authorized pick up persons and snack plans to everyone . Stay tuned for an email with some meeting time options.

It's almost here! This Tuesday, October 15th from 4:30-6:00 p.m. Davison GSRP will be hosting the county C.A.P.E event in Central's cafeteria. Please remind parents of this great opportunity to attend and hear about social emotional health, get free child care, and enjoy refreshments. See details below regarding this event. Flyers went home to our Davison GSRP families two weeks ago. Melissa Belanger reports that RSVP numbers are low, so please encourage and remind parents to attend!

C.A.P.E.- SOCIAL EMOTIONAL AWARENESS FOR PARENTS OF YOUNG CHILDREN

C.A.P.E. is an acronym that stands for Children and Parents Empowered. The GISD is promoting C.A.P.E. events and trying to send the message that parents can be their child's everyday hero. Davison GSRP will be hosting the 3rd GISD C.A.P.E. event in the county. The event will take place at Central Elementary in the cafeteria on Tuesday, October 15th, 2019 from 4:30 p.m.-6:00 p.m. GSRP parents from around the county will be able to attend and listen to a presentation from a GISD social worker on the topic of "Social-Emotional Health" Snacks will be provided by the GISD and child care will be provided by our Davison GSRP staff and other volunteers if needed. Attention all Early Learning staff,

Friday, October 25th is a teacher records and PD work day. All Davison pre-k-12th grade students are not in session. For our Early Learning staff, this means that it is a work day for Cardinal's Nest lead teachers and Cardinal's Nest classroom assistant teachers/caregivers and GSRP lead and associate teachers.

It is a non-work day for Latchkey caregivers, non-classroom Cardinal's Nest caregivers, and GSRP child care providers. The schedule for the teacher work day staff on Friday, October 25th is the following:

• 9:00-12:00- Mi.Registry training with Great Start to Quality director Melanie Berry in Central Elementary's computer lab.

• 12:00-4:00- Teacher records can be completed at home.

If there are latchkey staff that would like to attend the morning session on Mi.Registry training with Melanie Berry in Central's computer lab from 9:00-12:00 noon, you are welcome to attend and receive three hours of child care PD hours. Please let me know by email if you would like to attend the training.

Cardinal's Nest and Central/GSRP students will be taking a field trip to the Williams Property in Davison on Tuesday, October 22nd. There will be a leaf rubbing activity in the north house, 'pumpkin pick out' on the trail, wagon ride, cider and donuts, and more. Bus arrangements have been made and a schedule for a.m. and p.m. times will be emailed to teachers this week. I am working on the field trip permission slip letter that will be going home to parents this week. Also, a special note that p.m. Cardinal's Nest GSRP students will be asked to be dropped off at the Central GSRP location to board the bus with Central GSRP. Let's hope for good weather! If we have inclement weather, the field trip will be cancelled.
