Staff Spotlight
Mrs. Middendorf
This week's staff spotlight shines on Mrs. Middendorf, who has recently transitioned from teaching 7th-grade science to 8th-grade math.
Mrs. Middendorf has been a dedicated educator for FCCSC for 23 years, with 9 of those years spent at FCMS. She holds a degree in Elementary Mathematics from Miami University and Educational Leadership from the University of Cincinnati. Her academic journey began with a Bachelor of Science degree in Middle School Education with a focus on mathematics and science. Interestingly, Mrs. Middendorf initially pursued a career as a physical therapist in college before altering her path to becoming a clinical lab technician and eventually pursuing her passion for teaching.
Her preferred style is comfortable yet stylish. She fondly recalls her days of enjoying the music of 'NSYNC and the Backstreet Boys. Throughout her life, her favorite subject has always been math. Mrs. Middendorf enjoys watching softball, particularly because she enjoys observing her daughter play the sport. Mrs. Middendorf is a phenomenal teacher and FCMS is proud she is here.

6th Grade News
From Mr. Sherwood
The Aztec emperor Moctezuma II paid a visit to the sixth grade students recently. Moctezuma II had a high priest with him. Thankfully, the mighty Aztecs were unable to make any human sacrifices that day!!! They were saved by Mrs. Baker and Mrs. Ariens!
Also, Mr. Liggett did not allow those pesky Aztecs to carry in any weaponry!
From Mrs. Ariens
Please recognize and congratulate the following students for receiving 6th grade "shout-outs" from classmates:
Nolan Saxon
Zane Feller
Cofer Johnson
Declan McCann received Mrs. Ariens' "ELA Student of the Week" award.
Congratulations to all of these students for their hard work, responsibility, and kindness!
From Mr. Laughlin
Mr. Laughlin’s PE classes have been learning about the popular sport of Pickleball this semester. Below are the winners of class tournaments!
FFA
FCMS FFA had several teams participate in the Area Crops, Forestry and Entomology career development events this week.
8th graders Ellie Miller, Josy Buckler, Alayna Koger and Jakob Kolter competed in the Junior Entomology contest to demonstrate their knowledge about insects. This included a quiz and insect identification. The team placed third overall, and Ellie Miller had an impressive 2nd place in the individual contest.
Two crops teams also competed, the 8th grade team of Emma Amburgey, Kenzie Hollon and Lillie Riggle placed third. Congratulations to the 7th grade team of Abby Donathan, Preston Boone and Brooklyn Volk who took first place and earned a trip to the state contest at Purdue in December. In the individual contest Abby placed first and Preston was a close 2nd, only three points behind Abby. This is a very challenging competition including identifying crop plants and seed, weed plants and seeds, insects that damage crops, equipment, taking a written quiz and grading grain.
Congratulations to all of our FFA members who took part in this contest, they stepped out of their comfort zone and rose to the challenge. They practiced and studied for several weeks prior to the event and their hard work paid off.
