November 15th
Dear Jaguar Families,
What a fantastic (and short!) week we've had! It was so great to see so many of you during conferences—thank you for taking the time to connect with our teachers and share in your child's learning journey. Your support and involvement truly make our school a special place, and we couldn't do it without you. We’re looking forward to all the fun and learning still ahead this school year! We look forward to a full week with our students next week before we break for our Thanksgiving Recess.
PLEASE JOIN US FOR BREAKFAST!!
All students are welcome to enjoy free breakfast in morning before the school day begins!
- First through Fifth Grade: If your child would like breakfast, please drop your child off at the Oak Street Door at 8:10 and they can come right in to have a light breakfast in our cafeteria before they start their day. As with lunch, allergy spaces will be designated. If students would like to play outside in the morning before 8:10, they can walk on the sidewalk around the building to the Oak Street door for breakfast.
- Kindergarten: If your child would like breakfast, it will be brought to them in their classrooms after they settle in for their day. To support, please reach out to your child's classroom teacher to confirm that your child will be eating breakfast.
Follow us on Instagram at "JE_Jaguars": We have so many wonderful pictures and videos of learning in action and those small moments that make our days! This gives a nice window into the day in the life of a Jaguar!
Have a great weekend Jaguars!

JE Student Council: Festival of Trees
Don’t judge a book by its movie…
This year the Student Council will be sponsoring the Joshua Eaton Tree at the Annual Festival of Trees in Reading! We are creating a tree of books turned to movies and we would love the JE community’s help in making our tree a success. Please follow the Amazon Wish List Link to help us in gathering supplies!
**We are also in need of an artificial tree donation (pre-lit if possible). If you are willing to donate a tree, please reach out directly to Miss Lewis at miriam.lewis@reading.k12.ma.us by next Friday 11/21! We appreciate all of your support with the Student Council! **
Thank you!

REF Festival of Trees
Kick off your holiday season on Saturday and Sunday, December 7th and 8th by visiting Reading Education Foundation’s (REF) 22nd annual Festival of Trees, a winter wonderland of decorated holiday trees donated by local families, organizations, businesses and schools that festival visitors can win for themselves! This signature REF fundraising event, held at Reading’s Parker Middle School, is a magical and memorable community holiday tradition for adults and children of all ages. Fun can be had for all ages while raising money that REF provides to the Reading schools through teacher-initiated grants. There is local entertainment throughout both days including live performances by school choruses, bands and local groups. Food trucks will be outside selling items at the event. Lucky winners of tree raffles will be selected at closing on Sunday night.
Tree Donations
REF has a goal of 100 donated trees this year – please consider donating one! We welcome trees from PTO’s, grade levels, groups and staff. This is a great way to showcase the creativity and curriculum of the Reading Public Schools. You don’t need to spend a lot on a tree – just a fun theme and a few gift cards or small tokens (especially from our local businesses) are all you need. Remember, you don’t even need a tree as we’ve seen hockey sticks, bookcases and other itemS serve as a “tree”. If you are interested in donating a tree please email us at reftreedonor@gmail.com and include the following:
- Name of Tree Donor
- Contact information & phone number
- Tree Name
Advanced Ticket Sales Are Open
Raffle tickets purchased in advance will be preprinted with purchaser’s raffle number on the back, saving patrons the time and hassle of entering their personal information. Visit readingef.org to purchase tickets.
Mark your calendars!

📌 Holiday Breads for JE staff
Each year, JE PTO and families provide holiday breads to all of the amazing teachers and staff at Joshua Eaton!
Sign up HERE
For those unfamiliar with this event, we collect store-purchased breads(banana bread, pumpkin bread, etc.) and deliver them to the school for the staff at JE to bring home for the Thanksgiving holiday.
Coolers will be available at the addresses below for drop off on Monday 11/25 or Tuesday 11/26 from 8am to 9pm: 53 Woburn Street (front door/porch on Woburn St or side door/porch on Linden St) and 32 Prescott Street (front door/porch)
Please provide store purchased bread only so recipients have access to ingredient lists.
We need 75 loaves of bread in total; if you would like to contribute more than one loaf, please sign up for the number of slots you would like to buy so we have an idea of how many we may need to supplement.
Thanks very much for your help in showing the teachers and staff how thankful we are for all they do!
