Wildcat Weekly News
#iamworkman
Happy Friday, Wildcats
We have had a wonderful week of learning and growing here at Workman. As the weather is starting to get a little colder, please remember to send the proper clothing for outdoor recess. This could include a jacket, hat, and gloves. The students go outside every day, weather permitting, and we want to ensure that they are dressed properly for the colder weather.
Some PTO families will be at school this Saturday at 1:00 PM if your student wants to paint their handprint on the blacktop. They will also have chalk and bubbles for the students to play with. This will be a fun opportunity to leave your mark at Workman and to connect with other Wildcats and their families. We hope to see you there.
Wildcats of the Month - October!
Congratulations to our Wildcat students and staff of the Month. Thank you, Wildcats, for being safe, respectful, responsible and kind.
From The Office
Cold Weather Gear
The goal is to have students go outside for recess each day. As long as the real feel temperature is 15 degrees or above, we will be going outside. Please make sure that your student has the appropriate outdoor gear to support their comfort while outside.
From the Library
The Haunted Library will be making a return appearance to the Workman Library on your child's library day, 10/18-10/25! The Library Witch (aka Mrs. Johnston) reads (slightly) spooky, fun stories to celebrate the season in the Haunted Library. Many students have been asking since the first week of school when the Haunted Library would return but if your child is at all uncomfortable or you would rather your child not participate for any reason, please let me know and they can participate in an alternate activity during library that week. Can't wait to share some good BOOOOO-ks! Mrs. Johnston (julie.johnston@pccsk12.com)
Take Home Program
If you are participating in the Chromebook/iPad Take Home Program, distribution took place on Tuesday, October 15. There will be a makeup opportunity on Tuesday, October 22.
Lost and Found
The lost and found is already beginning to fill up. Please have your student check to see if there is anything they are missing.
Workman Kindness Activities for October
Did you know that Workman Elementary does kindness activities each month? During the month of October, we are asking our community to support our Wildcats! Please see this information slide for ways to be part of our school-wide kindness activities for the month of October.
Halloween at Workman

From the District
On November 5, 2024, voters in Wayne County will decide on the renewal of the Wayne County Regional Enhancement Millage. This renewal is essential to continuing the support and progress achieved by Wayne County schools since the millage originally passed in 2016.
The millage provides critical funding for career technical education, special education, reducing class sizes, and improving school safety in Wayne County. It ensures that 100% of the funds are distributed equitably among all 33 school districts and over 90 public school academies.
If approved, the millage renewal will generate approximately $360 per student for every district and eligible public school academy in Wayne County, including P-CCS. For a homeowner with a property valued at $100,000, this millage will continue to cost around $8 per month. This is a renewal, not a new tax, so Wayne County residents can continue supporting their schools without any tax increase.
Polls will be open from 7 am to 8 pm. If you are in line by 8 p.m., you have the right to vote. For more information, please click on Wayne County Regional Millage Renewal

October is Principal Appreciation Month, and P-CCS would like to recognize the fine work of our great principals. These building leaders usually come to school before everyone arrives and leave well after students and staff leave. They are charged with leading a large group of teachers and support staff, making sure that students are learning and parents are informed. This is a huge job, but our principals do it all effectively and efficiently with a smile. We encourage you to join us by thanking all of our principals this month
P-CCS is hiring! Support your local schools and community by filling one of our many open positions. The district needs teachers, paraprofessionals, security officers, food and nutrition services workers, crossing guards, and more. Full and part-time opportunities are available and can be viewed by clicking on this link: Jobs at P-CCS
