Harvest Party Guidelines
Harvest Parade and Party Schedule
Barrington Elementary
Friday, October 27th, 2023
Our annual harvest parade will be held on Friday, October 27th and is starting at 1:30pm with our class parties immediately following. Please see important information below:
We will have our normal morning schedule and lunch hour this year. The festivities will begin at 1:30pm with the costume parade.
Harvest Costume Parade - 1:30-2:00pm
Costumes for School:
Please have your child wear clothing to school that they can easily put their costume over. For example, your child may wear the tights and shirt that go with their costume and then bring a bag with the rest of the costume to put on at school.
Please make sure the costume can fit inside of a backpack or bag so that we can store it until it is time to get dressed.
Please remember that this day is a time to dress up in costumes and have fun for those children who choose to participate. Costumes should neither be excessively frightening or gory. Also, by the Superintendent’s directive, no weapon or facsimile of a weapon is permitted on school grounds and thus should not be a part of a costume. Our costumes must also represent elementary appropriate themes. Students in violation will be asked to change.
Costume Parade and Route:
Our costume parade will be outside weather permitting.
If we have an indoor parade, we will be unable to accommodate families due to fire code. A message will go out to families if we need to move the parade inside due to weather.
1:30pm Parade Route:
Students will parade on the sidewalks around the perimeter of the school.
Families and guests are encouraged to line up on the grass around the inside perimeter of the sidewalks to watch this special parade.
Barrington Rd, Andover Rd, Guilford Rd, and Northwest Blvd (please try to spread out so that our students can see you all along the route)
We will begin the parade from the playground leaving through the Barrington Rd. breezeway doors. We will then travel up Barrington Rd. to Andover Rd., down Andover Rd. to Guilford Rd., up Guilford to Northwest Blvd., down Northwest Blvd. and back up Barrington and in through the breezeway doors.
Harvest Class Parties 2:00-2:45pm:
Thank you to all of our room parents and staff for planning our harvest parties!
Each class will pay special attention to allergies and other safety protocols.
For safety reasons and space, we will need to limit the number of guests that we can accommodate in each of our classrooms. Our room parents have already reached out to parents to sign up to attend each of our parties.
Field trip and other class event photos
We are grateful to the parent volunteers who make field trips and other special events during the school day possible for our students. The district does ask that volunteers and chaperones limit any photos taken during a school-day activity to photos of their own students. This will help us ensure we are following the wishes of all parents and guardians regarding the use of their student’s image. We thank you in advance for your understanding, cooperation and willingness to support our schools.
Smartwatches
For Students - Wireless Usage/iPhones/Gizmos:
As smartwatches become more common among students, parents have asked about settings that might reduce the risk of the device causing a distraction during school. Here are links to information about school-time settings for two devices we see here at school, the Apple watch and the Gizmo watch. We kindly ask that students use these settings. Please know we will always call you or allow your child to call you during the day, if needed.
Scholastic Book Fair
Dear Families:
Good news! The Scholastic Book Fair is coming our way (YAY!). Choosing their own books empowers kids and inspires them on their journey to becoming lifelong readers. Every purchase at the fair benefits our school.
Our book fair will take place from Friday, October 27 until Friday, November 3rd, during school hours in our media center. From October 27 - October 31, students will have an opportunity to preview the books available. From November 1 - November 3rd, students will have the opportunity to purchase books.
While we will accept cash, checks, and credit cards, parents can set up eWallet for worry-free, cash-free purchases. It’s a safer way to purchase as students don’t have to carry cash to school. Anyone can contribute! Share each child’s eWallet so friends and family can add funds and give your kids more books to enjoy.
Our school book fair is for students only and is only open during school hours, but parents can shop from home at our Scholastic Book Fair! Online shopping begins October 24. All orders ship directly to your home, and shipping is free for book orders over $25. Every online purchase will also benefit our school.
Visit our Book Fair homepage to learn more and get started with eWallet and online shopping:
