Welcome Back!!!

It has been a great first week of school! The EB buildings have once again been buzzing with the energy of students returning to school. Other than some exceptionally hot weather, the first week has gone as smoothly as we could hope for. This strong start is the combination of efforts from students, parents, and staff. Thank you to everyone for keeping East Buchanan such a special place to live and learn!

First Day of School

RFQ

The EB Board of Education has issued a Request for Qualifications for contractors to build the new middle school. This is a two-step process, and it is anticipated that the contractor will be selected at the October Board Meeting. The link for the RFP can be found here: RFQ

The design process will be in full swing soon and the District is hoping to have a finalized plan for the new building by the end of December. Information about community feedback/information sessions will be sent out when scheduled.

Interior Doors

New interior doors have been installed throughout the elementary.

Bleacher Extension

Work is currently underway to extend the front row of the bleachers at the stadium to make the front seats more usable.

Exterior Doors

Four sets of exterior doors are getting replaced at the elementary. The front door and car rider door have been replaced with the other two sets scheduled to be replaced soon.

We would like to extend a BIG THANK YOU to the Bank of Gower for purchasing our Opening Day All-Staff meal! Everyone enjoyed a fajita bar from El 7 Agaves courtesy of the Bank of Gower. Thank you! We appreciate your support.

FBLA Nationals

Myles Adams and Quincy Meyer won the opporutnity to compete in FBLA Nationals in Atlanta, GA. Myles competed in Business Procedures, while Quincy competed in Networking Infrastructure. This was Quincy's second consecutive year to make it to FBLA Nationals.

Missouri Youth Tour

Teddy Dixon was selected by Platte Clay Electric Cooperative to be part of the Missouri Youth Tour to Washington D.C. Teddy joined over 100 other Missouri Juniors to represent our state in Washington D.C.

Missouri Scholars Academy

Elizabeth Newell had the opportunity to join other sophomores selected from around the state to experience an immersive three-week learning experience at Missouri Scholars Academy in Columbia, MO.

Missouri Girls State

Aynjewel Jones, Lola Hoffman, and Hilarry Elifrits represented EB at Missouri Girls State at Lindenwood University in St. Charles, MO.

National History Day

Kimmi Kohrs and Ellie Jackson competed at National History Day in Washington D.C.

State Fair

Several EB students participated in the Missouri State Fair this year. Scenes from our students at the fair below.

Results:

Isaac Rhode: Grand Champion Angus Cow-Calf and Reserve Grand Champion Angus Junior Heifer

Gavin Rhode: Reserve Grand Champion Angus Bull

Brady Whitely Exhibited a Hereford Heifer placing 3rd in class

Mazhie Willis- Exhibited a Maine Heifer Placing 3rd in class

Bristol Robinson Exhibited 2 Berk gilts placing 1st and 2nd in class

Kyra Gallop- Exhibited 2 Duroc Gilts

Colby Walkup - Exhibited 4 lambs winning 3 classes and placed 4th overall in Senior Showmanship. He also exhibited York gilts placing 2nd and 3rd in class.

Corbin Walkup Exhibited 5 lambs winning 3 classes and Champion Dorset market lamb. Placed 4th overall intermediate showmanship. He also exhibited the Champion 4-H York gilt and Reserve overall York Gilt.

Layla Guthals - Exhibited market barrows. Won Reserve Champion 4-H Spot barrrow. Won her class with her York barrow. She won 3rd in showmanship in the 1st session of the fair.

Kalvin Guthals- Exhibited market barrows and breeding gilts. Won 2nd with his York barrow and 3rd with his cross gilt. He got 3rd in showmanship in the 1st session and Reserve showman in the 3rd session.

Derek Helton - Exhibited 2 York market barrows and 2 york breeding gilts.

Taya and Tatan Lenz - Exhibited rabbits

New Staff

New Staff Spotlight

Mr. Brett Wilson--Vocal Music

Mr. Wilson is a recent graduate of Northwest Missouri State University. He did his student teaching in Platte County, and is super excited to get students singing! Mr. Wilson has a dog named Gracie, and his dream role in a musical is Dewey Finn in School of Rock!

Free Student Admission to Activities

All East Buchanan students will once again be able to attend all home sporting events and activities free of charge. This applies to all District events except for playoff games and events that are intended to raise funds for an EB organization (example: STUCO charging money for dances). We encourage all students to show up regularly to events to show their Bulldog Pride!

Reimbursements Dual Credit and CTE Expenses

If you have incurred expenses for dual credit classes (including tuition) or expenses related to career and technical education classes (FFA jacket, required tools, etc) you may be eligible for reimbursement from the state for those expenses. The deadline for the District to submit paperwork on your behalf is September 30, 2023. If you believe you have eligible expenses, please contact your building principal ASAP.
