Dear Families,
Snow, rain, ice, and sun were all present this weekend and the upcoming week of weather looks interesting. If you believe Punxsutawney Phil, this is just the beginning as Winter has been extended 6 weeks according to the famous rodent. The district is in a tough position of trying to keep the schools open and also make sure everyone arrives safely. They will send out any weather related information as soon as they can, so please continue to check the SSD Website until this latest patch of wintery weather passes.
Other than the uncertain weather, it’s a pretty low-key, normal week. We’ve crossed over the half way threshold for the year and are now on the backend of our 180 days. There’s still lots of work to do and teachers are digging into the data that’s come out of our newest batch of assessments so that they can alter their instruction to better meet the needs of the students. At home, please continue reading with your children, providing them a quiet space for homework and reading, questioning them on the books they’ve read that day, and discussing what they’ve been writing about in school. I’ve found with my own daughters I need to get more specific with my questions if I want to elicit any information other than the “It was ok” answer to how was your day? So we talk about their reading books, highlights and downfalls, or I awkwardly hover over their shoulders as they complete homework. Our students are demonstrating a lot of growth and we depend on you to help support that at home.
The annual Candy Gram fundraiser is up and running. Information was sent home last week and we’re ready to start taking your candy orders this next week.
I believe that’s all for now. I hope everyone stays safe and warm over these next few days and regardless if it’s sleet, snow, or ice, as always, it’s a great week to be a Bordeaux Bulldog!
