October Updates
October is a busy month packed with special events. We have already enjoyed Grandparents' Day and recognized Fire Prevention Month with the help of the Ward Township Fire Department. Red Ribbon Week events are planned for the week of October 28th, and we are certainly looking forward to ending the month of October with our fall parties. Read below for more details.
Fall Fundraiser Orders
Thank you for supporting our school financially by participating in our fall fundraiser. Orders from our Fisher Meats fundraiser are due on Friday, October 25. Be sure to return order forms, completed tally sheets, and money for those orders.
Red Ribbon Week
Red Ribbon Week is October 28-November 1. We will be celebrating at Deerfield with themed dress-up days and a convocation. This is a perfect time for you to have conversations with your children about the importance of making safe and healthy lifestyle choices.
Monday (October 28):
“Unity and kindness gives me a positive mindset!”
Wear orange to show that we are all united. We stand up to bullying.
We treat everyone with kindness, including ourselves.
Tuesday (October 29):
“Exercise and nutritious foods keep my body healthy”
Wear workout gear. Working out keeps our body, heart, and mind in great shape.
Wednesday (October 30):
“Working together as a team helps me do my very best”
Wear a favorite team jersey/shirt, or school spirit wear.
Thursday (October 31):
“Having fun and laughing together helps keep my brain healthy”
Wear a Halloween costume and enjoy the school’s fall party.
Friday (November 1):
“Getting enough sleep keeps me at my best”
Wear pajamas today.
Fall Parties and Costume Parade
Thank you in advance for your help as we prepare for our annual fall parties.
Our costume parade will begin at 2:30 p.m. We will parade both indoors and outdoors (weather permitting). Guests are welcome to view the parade outside or in the gym. Guests will be required to sign-in at the office. Any guests visiting a classroom to join a class party before the parade must have completed our volunteer form and have a background check on file with our office.
Students may wear a costume to school. They may not bring a costume to change into mid-day. This needs to be something that can be worn all day. Keep in mind that most of the day will be a normal day of school. The costume should be something your child can wear on the bus to and from school if your child rides the bus. As you plan your child’s costume, please keep these guidelines in mind:
Students are not to wear costumes that depict violence, blood, or gore.
Students are not to bring fake weapons such as guns, knives, swords, etc.
Costumes should not be scary. We do have young students in our building.
Costumes should not expose too much skin.
Any snacks must be store bought and individually packaged. They also must include nutritional facts including an ingredient list. Please communicate with your child’s teacher about snacks you’d like to send.
