September 2024
LISD Families,
These last couple of weeks have been tough to absorb as we recently received news of more gun violence in a school, this time in Georgia. It is very normal for these situations to create questions among our families, students and staff about what LISD is doing to keep our schools safe. LISD has an in-depth safety and security plan in place, and I encourage you to review those procedures on our website. I also want to thank our community for their support of last year's bond referendums that enable us to continue to enhance our safety measures.
As our biggest classrooms get back into action with events across our stadiums and arenas, it reaffirms my pride in our district, where the community unites as ONE LISD to rally around our kids. As a fan, I ask that you review the spectator guidelines linked in this newsletter to ensure our sporting events remain a safe and exciting environment for everyONE.
The new bond-funded iPads are also being delivered to students over the coming weeks, and I want to remind you about the changes our 7th & 8th graders will see in their student device access related to the App Store. You can reference my back-to-school message or the back-to-school website for those details.
There are many more updates in this month's newsletter, including an update regarding the Community Efficiency Committee (CEC), so please keep reading. You will hear much more from me about the CEC process in the coming weeks.
Thank you for being an incredible partner in the education of your child.
Lori Rapp, Ed.D.
Superintendent of Schools

Community Efficiency Committee Update
The Community Efficiency Committee (CEC) is a group of more than 50 LISD stakeholders charged with representing the entire LISD community in the review of facility usage and enrollment trends in order to share assessments with the LISD Board of Trustees about how to proceed with boundary adjustments and facility usage.
At an Oct. board meeting, CEC representatives will present information to the Board about the process of the efficiency assessment. District leaders will present the results of the assessment at a following board meeting. Be on the lookout for detailed videos explaining the process of this assessment, and more about the criteria and key indicators.
