TRIUMPH 4TH GRADE WRITING PARAGRAPHS
The new fourth graders dove into the challenge of writing well-crafted paragraphs. Ms. Gruduv used a hamburger analogy to explain how paragraphs are typically written. There are introductory and conclusion sentences that sandwich two or three relevant content sentences, just like buns sandwich a hamburger and the fixings. The class walked their way through writing a paragraph together before writing paragraphs individually. Overall the lesson was clear, simple and effective.
VOYAGERS 5TH GRADE WRITING
Students had received the instruction on writing from Ms. Bashaw by the time these photos were taken. They are shown working individually or next to friends on writing tasks. Link to 13 Photos.
TRIUMPH 5TH GRADE STEAM CLASS
After returning from a unified arts class, these students tackled the challenge of creating the longest paper chain possible using two sheets of colored paper. By the end of the class, it became evident that those who chose to cut narrow strips to make their chain rings ended up with longer chains. Link to 18 Pictures.
HIGH HEAT INDEX
Everyone needs recess but not everyone has found the heat index tolerable in recent days. The students trouping through the lobby on the way back to their classrooms have looked pink faced and sweaty. Same for the adults.
INCREDIBLES 6TH GRADE LITERACY INSTRUCTION
Ms. Springfield went over the process of identifying and categorizing nouns. Students showed their understanding of the lesson and kept track of what they were learning. Link to 3 Pictures.
TRIUMPH 4TH GRADE ART
This group was photographed just as the class with Ms. Martinson and Ms. Tennyanoff was ending. The students had been given paper bags containing colored scraps of paper. They were asked to create artwork that looked like pizza by reshaping the scraps with scissors and gluing them down to a sheet of paper. Link to 7 Pictures. Ms. Grudev came over to the artroom to collect the students for their next class period.
