Meet the Music Teacher🎻
Mrs. Renita Williams
Welcome students and parents,
I am Renita Williams, and I am thrilled to welcome you to our music class! With 21 years of teaching experience, 14 of which have been right here in Garland ISD, I bring a deep passion for music education to our classroom. I hold both a Bachelor of Music Education and a Master of Music Education from Jackson State University.
Beyond the classroom, I am a proud wife and mother of four wonderful children. Our family is also home to a lovable dog named Hooch. As a dedicated musician, I am excited to share my love for music with you. I am also certified in Orff Levels I, II, and III, as well as Kodaly Level I, ensuring a diverse and enriching musical experience for all of my students.
In my free time, I enjoy reading, learning new things, traveling, and having fun with friends and family. I look forward to an exciting year filled with music, growth, and memorable experiences.
Let's make this a fantastic year of music together!
Warm regards,
Renita Williams

Mrs. Williams
In our elementary music classroom, the atmosphere is alive with the excitement of discovery as we will dive into the Orff and Kodály methods. We will start with simple folk songs, clapping and singing together to internalize the rhythms and melodies. I love how the Kodály approach uses these familiar tunes to teach musical concepts through hand signs and solfege, making abstract ideas tangible for the kids. We will also move to the Orff instruments—xylophones, metallophones, and percussion—where the students eagerly explore and create. Our Super Seahawks will improvise rhythms and melodies, gaining confidence as they play together. There's a strong emphasis on movement and dance, with each activity carefully designed to be engaging and educational. Watching the students collaborate, express themselves, and develop their musical skills in such an interactive and holistic environment is incredibly rewarding.
