Thank you for joining us for Open House!
We had the pleasure of hosting over 1,000 members of Stallion Nation for our Open House event this past Wednesday. How amazing is that? I say it all the time-- our school community is the absolute best around, and Wednesday was just another example of the commitment and dedication we all share. Your positivity and support was definitely felt, so on behalf of Stoddert staff-- thank you! I've included some photographs of the event below. Additionally, please take the time to complete this brief survey (link below) to provide your feedback.
It's Attendance Spirit Week!
September is Attendance Awareness Month, and this year's theme is "Be Present, Be Powerful!" Please encourage your child's participation in our spirit week (week of September 16th) to further highlight and promote the important of regular attendance to school.
Canvas Teacher Pages- Live on Wednesday
CCPS has adopted Canvas as our countywide Learning Management System. Canvas will house many of the online resources used in the classroom. Additionally, each teacher will have their own page that is viewable to both scholars and their parents/guardians. As this is a new platform, teachers have participated in several virtual and in-person training sessions to prepare, the last of which is this Tuesday. As such, Stoddert teacher Canvas pages will be viewable on Wednesday, September 17th.
As you are aware, teachers house student laptops in their classrooms for instructional use. This enables teachers to intentionally provide strategies for appropriate care and usage of laptops during their lessons and allows for routine, necessary device maintenance/updates, as well.
In Memorium- Joseph Benjamin
Regretfully, one of our beloved members of Stallion Nation, Mr. Benjamin, recently passed away. Mr. Benjamin has been a dedicated building service works at Stoddert for more than twenty years. In case you missed it, I've included the beautiful piece included in the most recent installment of School News posted by CCPS. Mr. Benjamin's presence is greatly missed by all.
Attention Parents/Guardians of Car Riders
We utilize our back parking lot for our car rider loop to allow for a smoother traffic flow and safer campus for walkers. Cars are not permitted in our bus lot or staff parking lot during arrival or dismissal as this presents a safety concern for students as they disembark their busses or walk to/from school.
Save the Date- Stoddert Block Party is on Oct. 12th
For the past 7 years, Benjamin Stoddert MS has partnered with the Charles County State's Attorney's office to host a block party that provides a number of fun activities and necessary resources for our scholars, their families, and the greater community. I'll list some below:
Immunization clinic
Car seat safety checks
Free bike helmets
CCPL mobile library
Free food, including hot dogs, hamburgers, and Chick-Fil-A
Gaming truck
3 on 3 basketball tournament
Face painting
Performances by our cheer team and modeling troupe
...and more!
We hope you can join us on October 12th from 11:00 AM- 2:00 PM!
