Tell City Troy Township School Resource Officer, Triton Martin and K-9, Dunkin
Triton Martin currently serves the rank of Patrolman and is assigned to Tell City Troy Township Schools as their School Resource Officer. Officer Martin began his path to Law Enforcement as an intern with the Perry County Sheriff’s Office in high school. After that, Officer Martin attended Indiana University Southeast where he obtained degrees in Criminal Justice and Environment Geography, while also simultaneously graduating from the Indiana University Police Academy and Cadet Officer Program. Officer Martin began his career as a Deputy with the Perry County Sheriff’s Office in 2020, just before being hired as a Tell City Patrolman assigned to the School Resource Officer Role with the Tell City Police Department in 2023. Officer Martin currently serves our Tell City Marksmen alongside his K9 Partner, Dunkin, who is trained in Narcotic Detection and Tracking.
We asked Officer Martin a few questions.
What drew you to a career in Law Enforcement?
In the 3rd grade while taking a Hunter’s Education Course, I had the opportunity to meet an Indiana Conservation Officer who I looked up to immensely. Following in his legacy, I have since yearned for the chance to give back to our community - the very community who has given so much to me!
What is your favorite thing about working for the Tell City Police Department?
Technically, I have two favorite “things” - one of which is the opportunity to hang out with the coolest kiddos in the county (shoutout to my students at William Tell and Tell City Jr.-Sr. High School), and the second being a floppy-eared Labrador Retriever named Dunkin who’s my faithful sidekick day in and day out.
What are your hobbies outside of work?
When Dunkin and I aren’t training or going on an adventure, you can usually find us on a boat, fishing in one of the many lakes Perry County has to offer!
If you had to pick a career outside of Law Enforcement, what would you be doing?
Working at Dunkin’ Donuts - Duh.

💝 Fun Valentine's Day Crafts & Activities 💝
Simple Valentine’s Day Heart Suncatcher
Today I struck pure gold. This easy Valentine’s Day heart collage activity was perfect for my little shape-loving guy. Every time he stuck on a piece of tissue paper or a sequin he would tell me what shape he was using. Love it!
To make a heart suncatcher you will need:
- Red paper
- Clear contact paper
- Tissue paper squares
- Sequins, glitter and other relatively flat embellishments
Start by cutting a heart frame out of your paper – just fold the sheet of paper in half, cut out a large heart and then cut a smaller heart out of the large one to create a window. Cut a piece of contact paper that is larger than the heart, lay the heart on top of the contact paper and trim off the excess.
