Harris Elementary School receives generous donation
On Thursday, August 29, 2024 Cintas visited Harris Elementary School. Cintas is a company that focuses on workplace safety. The company was generous enough to donate over 20 baskets of school supplies and each classroom received wipes, markers, crayons and other various items that will be put to good use throughout the school year. The students and staff at Harris Elementary thank CIntas for taking time out of their day to visit and donate these wonderful supplies!

A Strategy To Keep Students Thinking
How Many Squares!
At the start of the school year, teachers across all grade levels K-12 use this Thinking Task to engage students. The challenge was to find how many squares were hidden in the image above. In Mrs. In Gudaitis' 6th-grade math class, students worked in teams at whiteboards around the room. As groups began to reach their conclusions, Mrs. Gudaitis surprised them by revealing that the correct answer was 30. When asked how this revelation affected their approach, students shared that it pushed them to keep thinking and persist in their problem-solving. For fun, try finding all 30 with your family.
