I hope you all are able to enjoy the warmer temperatures we seem to be getting more and more of lately! Getting outside, soaking in some much-needed Vitamin D from the sun is one of the activities I have intentionally included in my schedule to maintain my own mental health during these unusual times.

What are you doing to maintain and/or improve your mental health? Please remember to take some time on a regular basis to engage in your own preferred method of self-care, so that you can continue to give the highest level of care to those around you.

• April 6th for Zotz, ECHS, GPHS, NS-9 (face-to-face students), NS-10 (1/3 of students) and NSSH
• April 13th for NS-9 (virtual students) and NS-10 (1/3 of students)
• April 20th for NS-10 (1/3 of students)

English II EOC Information

• April 8th for Zotz, ECHS, GPHS, NS-10 (1/3 of students), and NSSH
• April 15th for NS-10 (1/3 of students)
• April 22 for NS-10 (1/3 of students)

You should be receiving updates from your child(ren)'s campus regarding testing dates.

Dear Parents / Guardians,

Galena Park I.S.D. invites you to participate in our Parent Needs Assessment to provide feedback on the quality of customer service you receive at your child(ren)'s campus. If you have children at more than one campus, please complete this survey for each campus. All answers will remain confidential. Thank you for your participation.

Survey Deadline: Friday, April 9, 2021

Transfer request to schools will be considered on space and staff availability. Space availability will be evaluated in each grade level and/or program and transfers will be approved based on this evaluation. Parents should be aware that the transfer request will not be approved if additional staff or classrooms are needed to accommodate the transfer student. There are NO guarantees that children who transfer will be able to continue at the requested campus in future school years.

The Student Admissions Department will begin early registration for all new kindergarten and eligible pre-kindergarten students for the 2021- 2022 school year.

Online registration will open on April 6 and the Registration Support Site will be available at Joyce Zotz Education Center (13801 Hollypark Dr.) on the following dates:

• April 14: 8:00 a.m.- 12:00 p.m./ 1:00 p.m.- 4:00 p.m.
• April 15: 1:00 p.m.- 6:00 p.m.
• April 16: 9:00 a.m.- 12:00 p.m.

Parents of incoming Kindergarten students for the 2021-2022 school year interested in applying for the Two-Way Immersion Program (TWI) at Woodland Acres Elementary are invited to attend the upcoming informational meetings. This program is open to all

incoming Kindergarten students zoned to GPISD schools.

The Mental Health Awareness Fair will be Saturday, April 27 from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.

Please click the flyer below to scan the QR Code to fill out a brief questionnaire. The Zoom link will be emailed to participants prior to the virtual fair.

The CTE Early College High School will host a lottery on Friday, April 30, 2021 to select the students for the Class of 2025. We are excited to see who will join ECHS! Watch the event via live stream starting at 2:00 p.m.

The Character Education theme for the month of April is self-discipline.

Galena Park I.S.D.'s mission is to prepare students to become productive citizens and lifelong learners. One way we contribute to our mission is through our Character Education program.

The Superintendent’s Student Advisory Board (SAB) was established to provide an avenue of dialogue between high school students who are leaders on their campuses

with District leaders.

Every year, Student Advisory Board members participate in a community service project, but due to the pandemic and social distancing guidelines, the students decided to create a podcast.

For the duration of the 2020-2021 school year, the SAB will be participating in monthly podcasts to discuss mental health and how to cope with the difficulties we have all faced during this pandemic. In this episode, the students had an important conversation about bullying and our district’s ‘No Place for Hate’ initiative.

Thank you, SAB, for bringing awareness to the importance of mental health.

If you would like to change your child's instructional arrangement for the upcoming grading period, you will have to complete the Instructional Arrangement Form. This form will be available online two weeks prior to the end of the grading period.

HIGH SCHOOL: Skyward link will open on Monday, April 5 and will close on Friday, April 16

(NOTE: The student's first day on campus will be Monday, April 26)

Curbside Meal Distribution for virtual learners will be Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:00 p.m.- 5:00 p.m. at Cloverleaf Elementary, Galena Park Elementary, Jacinto City Elementary, Pyburn Elementary, Sam Houston Elementary and Tice Elementary Schools.

GPISD will also be offering free weekend meals for students attending face-to-face learning. Weekend meals are available for pick up at the student's home campus on Fridays.

Galena Park I.S.D. working with Precinct 2 Commissioner Adrian Garcia, has partnered with Harris County to provide additional after-hours technical support for students and parents. The Harris County Schools Digital Access Call Center will provide help Monday-Friday from 5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. and Saturday –Sunday 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Callers may still email techsupport@galenaparkisd.com or call 832-386-1400 for assistance. Phones will be answered by the Harris County Call Center after hours.
