Taunton High School Summer Update
September 27, 2024
Principal's Corner
As a reminder there is no school on Monday, October 14th! We hope families and staff enjoy the long weekend.
Also, progress reports are available on School Brains. If you need help, please call the guidance office and we can help you.
Lastly, I am still looking for 1-2 parents to join our School Council. This group meets monthly with teachers, students, Assistant Principal Blennau and me to discuss our school improvement work. If interested, please let me know.

Kind Gesture!
Check out this cutting board made from maple and black walnut with a finish of “food safe” made from mineral oil and beeswax. Mr. McCurry made this for Logan Rebello’s SkillsUSA raffle basket. Mr. Morro engraved it for us.
Visit from FLAD
On Wednesday, October 9th, Taunton High School hosted students and staff from the B+S Bispo D. Manuel Ferreira Cabral School, in Madeira. These students were winners of the Atlântico Júnior 2023/2024 Award. The five students, supervised by Professor Ângela Morais, developed a project for the creation of sustainable biofilters, using banana residues and microalgae exopolymers, which aim to retain microplastics. We were so happy to meet with the students and share our school with them.
Parent Teacher Partnership
Our first THS Parent Teacher Partnership Meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, October 16th at 6:00 PM in the Library Media Center. All parents/guardians are welcome to attend! During this month's meeting, we will talk about the school's work with the Barr Foundation and the School Improvement Plan. We will also share with you all a draft of the school's instructional vision and look for your feedback.
Social Probation
In effort to encourage positive student behavior throughout the school building, I have encouraged our Associate Principals to place students with any significant conduct violations on social probation. Students may be placed on Social Probation for infractions dealing with tobacco, e-cigarettes, alcohol, drugs, fighting, vandalism, or for other violations of the Student Handbook. While on “Social Probation” a student will not be allowed to attend, or participate in, any high school sponsored or high school related events, including athletics. Students who participate in athletics may be permitted to practice but will not be allowed to play in games or to attend/participate in any other school-related extracurricular or athletic activities. Students on social probation will be provided a letter, which includes the length of the social probation.
Fall Sports
Below is a picture and recap from the girl's soccer team victory over Milford HS on Tuesday!
Below is a picture from the girls volleyball team's game against Oliver Ames on Monday, October 7th and the field hockey game on Thursday, October 10th versus Attleboro.
The football team fell to Franklin Thursday night in a competitive game at home! Below is a nice article as this game was extra special for Coach Sidwell who played against his son, who is a senior on the Franklin team.
