Students didn't have school on Wednesday so our staff could engage in Professional Learning in multiple areas including small grouping methods and differentiation. Take a look at some of the pictures from the learning that occurred with our professional staff.

Wayne Westland recognized employees that were nominated and chosen as the Employees of the Year. Stevenson Middle School is proud to recognize Mr. Steve Harvey as the Custodian of the Year and also Mrs. Diane Fournier as the Teacher of the Year (Secondary Level).

They are both incredible people and very deserving of this distinguished honor. Please extend your congratulations to each of them.

Yesterday we kicked off our all school fundraiser. We hope all of you can help to participate in this very easy fundraiser. All profits raised go directly back to the students in the form of the RAPS parties, school store items, rewards/prizes/games, and field trips.

Students need to submit at least 10 adult contacts to earn free Kona Ice for Friday next week.

If students submit more than 20 adult contacts, they are in the drawing for mini fridges full of cash and a $250 gift card.

Parent Teacher Conferences are coming up! We have conferences running virtually on Tuesday, October 10th from 5pm-8pm and Wednesday, October 11th from 3:10pm-6:10pm.

Information on how to sign up for the time slots for the teachers will be sent next week in my eblast.

Tuesday, October 10th is our Picture Retake Day. Pictures will be taken from 8:30 am-10:30 am in room 124. New students or students who were absent during the original picture day should report there when called on Retake Day. Students who would like a retake must bring their original portrait packet to the camera and return it to the photographer.

Our behavior expectations that we teach here at Stevenson are referred to as our "RAPS", which is an acronym for Respect, Accountability & Pride, and Safety. Each month there is a focus that is one of those three, and each week within that month focuses on a certain area of the school where students are challenged to meet the expectations that we have at our school. Please take a look at the tasks we will be charging our students with for the month of October. If students are following these expectations, they will be rewarded with RAPS points in their account that they can use to purchase items of their choice in our school store.

This is awesome, isn't it!?! Parents, you can help to support our focus areas in our building by reinforcing these at home. Talk to them at dinner and ask them if they earned any RAPS points today and for what tasks. These are great conversation pieces and teachable moments that can be used at home in support of our school focus areas. Thanks team!

Our student Lighthouse group is planning our first Stevenson dance and it's a Halloween themed dance. Please take a look at the criteria to attend. We hope to see everyone there! :)

Wayne-Westland Community Schools has a Family Resource Center (FRC), which provides services to any student/family enrolled in our District, free of cost. Some of the services they provide are: basic need assistance, access to over 700 local resources, Laundry Assistance Program and material items for those unable to afford them (emergency toiletries, socks/underwear, hats/gloves/scarves, etc.) They are also able to supply school supplies and backpacks year round for any WWCS student. Our FRC also has a Digital Request for Services Form, which can be used to request assistance by filling out a simple form. Please contact the Family Resource Center directly with any additional questions regarding their services.

Care Solace is a complimentary and confidential service provided by Wayne-Westland Community Schools. This is a free service to students, families and staff. Care Solace helps connect individuals to mental health or substance abuse providers. They will call providers, verify insurance and help to make appointments.
