Summer Earn and Learn (basically, get paid to learn!)
PA CareerLink and Equus Workforce Solutions are happy to announce the 2025 Summer Earn and Learn Program. This program, designed for youth ages 14-24, is a comprehensive work readiness program that provides participants with opportunities to explore careers, develop workplace skills, and earn a wage while adding experience to their resumes.
Federal and state funds support the Summer Earn and Learn Program, during which youth are placed in paid work experiences. These experiences provide youth with the opportunity to work with a local business that aligns with their career goals. Throughout the summer, the youth receive mentoring and job-specific training from their supervisors, in addition to case management, resources to overcome their barriers, and work readiness training from their PA CareerLink advisors.
Summer Earn and Learn eligibility is based on each youth’s income; all youth interested in the program will be required to attend an enrollment session in March, during which CareerLink staff will work with them to determine their eligibility and enroll them in the Summer Earn and Learn Program, if appropriate. Attached to this email is an informational flyer with enrollment dates for each county we serve listed on the back.
Career Readiness Education Workshop (CREW)
CREW exists to help students who may not have set a career or educational plan after high school graduation. Upon arrival at the event, students will attend their choice of three (of the 14) career cluster informational presentations delivered by a business or training partner associated with that industry.
In the second half of the day, students are provided the opportunity to attend Post-Secondary Expo attended by many schools, training centers, employers, and military recruiters as well as an employability skills session which will focus on different topics each year.
This helps students make connections and possible decisions as they approach graduation and provides them with job skills that are coming directly from industry professionals.
Interested students should complete the attached form and return to Mr. Shearer by Feb. 21, 2025. Printed copies of the form are outside of Mr. Shearer's office.
