September is here!
Good Afternoon, Gators!
It was great to greet our Gators after a 3-day weekend this morning as they came into school. They were quick to settle into their classroom routines and morning time with the TA (Teacher Advisory) time. Our staff has been working diligently to set clear expectations and help our students become strong classroom communities. It's our goal to work hard to make sure all of our classes are running in a way that supports the learning of all our students.
SST: One of the pieces of the puzzle of Main Street Middle School is our SST time. Student Support Time (SST) is a 30-minute block each day where we place students in small groups based on the support and needs of those students. We focus this time specifically in the areas of literacy, mathematics, and social emotion learning. An important aspect of this is using common assessments and discussions among our staff to identify what kids need. This week, students will be completing a local assessment called RenSTAR in their classes to give us some data on where students are in their academic learning. Teachers will work together in the next week analyzing the data to start our intentional support time for extension, support and intervention in those areas.
Music/Choral News: I am sad to share that our choral teacher, John Luce, has left his position as our choir teacher at Main Street Middle School due to personal reasons. We have advertised this position and are working to create contingency plans to support our students musical talents while we look for a long term solution. As soon as we have information, we will share it with you all.
Weather: September always brings cooler weather!
Please make sure you remind your Main Street Middle School students to bring outdoor weather wear that is appropriate to the weather. We will be outside and getting fresh air every day during recess unless there is a worry of dangerous weather conditions (thunder/lightning, etc)
Social Media: Look for Main Street Middle School on Instagram and Facebook! We are working to post regularly pictures and snapshots of all the awesome things happening in our school to share with you and our community!
