Elementary Highlights
Dear Families,
It has truly been an honor to serve as principal of Reardan Elementary over the last four years.
This school is a special place, full of heart, resilience, and joy. Together, we’ve navigated challenges, celebrated milestones, and built a strong, supportive community. I’ve watched your children grow—not just academically, but as kind, curious, and confident individuals—and it’s been one of the greatest joys of my career.
While it’s never easy to say goodbye, I leave with a full heart and deep appreciation for all the trust and partnership you’ve shared with me. Thank you for your support, your kind words, and your commitment to our school. I am confident that the strength of this community will continue to carry it forward.
Wishing you and your children continued success and happiness. I will always hold Reardan Elementary close to my heart.
Enjoy your summer,
Jamie Mikelson

Middle School Highlights
What a year this has been! I have enjoyed getting to spend this year with our amazing middle school students. This week we had a fantastic field day put on by MS ASB and Mrs. O’Rourke. We also had some amazing “Staycation” fun days to wrap up this year. Mr. Dewalt had canvas painting, Ms. Nurvic had friendship bracelet making, Mrs. Hamilton did scrumptious cookie baking, Ms. Koch had card games, and we had Mario Cart in the Innovation Center. The 3 on 3 basketball tournament was a huge hit as well. Students took care of end of the year check out and had fun making memories with friends.
Thursday’s 8th grade promotion was a great send off; thank you to Kristy Koch for organizing that and to School Board members Simon Butterfield, Lane Collier, and Jenny Cox for handing out certificates and flowers to our 8th graders. Please put August 19th from 5-6:30 pm on your calendar for Freshman Orientation and party!
It has been my honor and privilege to serve as a principal in the Reardan-Edwall School District for the past eleven years. Many happy memories were made here thanks to this community, and I will treasure the friendships and connections to Reardan forever. I am going to dive into retirement at the end of June with a trip to Kauai and then becoming a grandmother in July. Thank you all so much for your warm wishes this week.

This week we proudly recognized the achievements of our PACE students in a special graduation ceremony. Dylan and Ethan Martin received Certificates of Achievement, honoring their dedication and hard work throughout their year at PACE. Additionally, we celebrated Westin Hammel, who officially completed the program last June and was awarded his full PACE Certificate—a testament to his perseverance and success.
Their commitment and accomplishments reflect the strength and determination of our students, and we couldn’t be prouder. Congratulations to Dylan, Ethan, and Westin on this milestone!
Options Program Highlights
What a Wondrous Whirlwind of a Year at Options Program!
Hold onto your hats, folks, because the Options Program just wrapped up a year that felt like a grand adventure! We were absolutely buzzing with an average of 65 K-12 students diving headfirst into discovery across our three amazing programs: Home Connection, Online, and Outdoor School.
This year, we unleashed the fun in nearly 150 workshops, each one a tiny portal to excitement! Imagine a class where we blew things up (with a scientific sparkle, of course!), then leaped into the future with AI, painted masterpieces with dazzling art techniques, became money maestros learning to be super savvy with our cash, and even journeyed to far-flung corners of the globe without leaving our classrooms. Phew!
Graduates, Dreamers, and Tiny Tadpoles!
Oh, the milestones! We cheered on 8 tiny kindergarteners as they graduated, their eyes sparkling with dreams as vast as the ocean. We asked them what they wanted to be, and the answers? Everything from brilliant doctors to daring frog catchers! And then, a truly magical moment: all 8 of our high school seniors crossed the finish line with a 100% graduation rate! We're bursting with pride as they leap into their next grand chapters, whether they're joining the workforce or setting off for college. The future is certainly bright for these incredible young people!
Our Home Connection explorers had a year of delightful surprises, from unraveling the secrets of famous poets to charting new worlds with mapping, and even learning the fascinating process of preparing meat. And in a splash of excitement, we nurtured and then released over 100 shimmering rainbow trout back into the wild!
We capped off this extraordinary year with a heartwarming celebration, complete with our charming kindergarten graduation. It was a beautiful moment to soak in all the incredible magic our students created.
A Glimpse into Next Year's Grand Adventures!
Guess what?! The adventure doesn't stop! Next year, we're adding a brand-new, project-based high school program (psst... only two spots left, so quick as a wink!). Plus, we're launching a fantastic GED re-engagement program for our 16-21 year olds ready to conquer new horizons.
