Monday Kick-Off
Horn Frog Nation
August 26, 2024
Dear Family,
I hope you had a peaceful and relaxing weekend. We finished 8 days of school, hopefully the students are learning your routines and procedures (classroom management plan), and you have learned a little bit more about your students. I hope you had the opportunity to read over the letters from your students from our Meet & Greet, and the letters helped you learn a little more about their needs. I am working on my parent letter for the month of September. If there is anything your would like me to add please let me know. We have an open house schedule for September 10, is this something we still want to move forward on? We will meet briefly this week to discuss it?
I have pulled applications for substitutes. I will schedule interviews this week. I hopefully we will finds some awesome candidates to hirer. If you know you will be out a head of time, please put it in Frontline. We are with one sub for right now. Advanced notice will help in making arrangements.
I will start to walk through your classrooms looking at the routines and procedures you have in place, and providing feedback. I will look at your lesson plans as well, to make sure all required pieces are present. I have informed Ms. Shugars about our curriculum needs. If your students are able to access the curriculum online, please have them do that for now. If your students cannot access the online curriculum and you need to make copies, please plan ahead.
To Do's:
- Fire Inspection: Please make sure that you have corrected the extension cord issues pointed out by the Fire Marshall on Friday August 23. He will return in a week to take a second look.
- You must complete your required annual training and upload your certificates to Eduphoria by September 13th. I will pull a report at the end of the month to see where we are as a campus.
- We all will have required meetings (504 & ARD) in the next couple of weeks of school. Make it your morning habit to open up your email and calendar. Take a minute to look over your emails and what is on your calendar for the day.
- I have updated the master schedule under the Special education tab, to show when students have speech and dyslexia pullouts. Once I receive the schedule for OT, I will add it to the schedule.

Teacher Tidbits
Eyes on the prize
Think of a whole-class reward—such as a dance party, movie day, no homework for a week, or free time on Friday—you’d like your class to work toward. (Here are ideas for virtual rewards for students.) Then make a list of goals for them to achieve to earn the reward. A goal might be making quick transitions between subjects or following rules of polite discussion. Write each goal on a separate sticky note. Then, write the reward in big letters on a white board, chart paper, or the like. Cover it with the sticky note goals. Every time the class achieves one of the goals, remove the related sticky to reveal the class reward a little at a time.
