NEWS FROM MISS BARMORE
This month, our preschoolers have embarked on an exciting journey into the world of trees! Through our engaging curriculum, we have explored various types of trees, learned about their care, and discovered the fascinating diversity of leaves and their vibrant colors.
Our students have enjoyed hands-on experiences, including scavenger hunts where they searched for acorns, pine cones, and colorful leaves. This exploration has sparked their curiosity and allowed them to connect with nature in a meaningful way. The science center has become a favorite spot, filled with the treasures they've collected—leaves, pine cones, and small sticks—encouraging endless discovery and learning.
Additionally, we had a wonderful field trip to Swartswood State Park, where students experienced trees in their natural environment. The trip was not only fun but also reinforced our classroom lessons about the importance of trees in our ecosystem.
Thank you for your continued support in nurturing your child's love for nature and learning. We look forward to more adventures ahead!

NEWS FROM MRS. NEWMAN
The kindergarteners have been busy learning how to read! In reading we are learning that we can read signs all around us! We took a walk around the school to see what signs we read everyday without even knowing we are reading them. The students were amazed to see that they could read many of the signs in the school! In writing we are starting to write pattern books. The students were very excited to write their very first book! The students are very excited to use counters to show different ways to show numbers. In social studies we are starting to learn what an election is and we are reading "Duck for President." We will vote on who should be in charge of the farm, Farmer Brown or Duck. Lots of exciting things are happening in kindergarten!

NEWS FROM MRS. KNAPP
First grade scientists have been exploring light and sound this month. We have learned that sound is made with vibrations and how sound effects in cartoons are made. Students used their hands and feet to create a rainstorm and a ruler to make the "boing" sound of a bouncy ball. Our young scientist also explored light. They can tell you the difference between transparent, translucent and opaque. Children used tissue paper and plastic wrap to make their own sun catchers to display in our classroom windows. It's been a lot of fun!

NEWS FROM MRS. GARRIGAN
This month, we have been talking a lot about fall and Halloween. We’ve been reading about topics such as bats, pumpkins, apples, and leaves. A fun way to incorporate vocabulary at home is to have a scavenger hunt in the dark! Grab a couple flashlights and turn off the lights. See what you and your child can find! Try naming objects, classifying objects or creating sentences with objects you find. Additionally, we have been talking about actions and verbs! Try to describe the actions of your child, people around you, and yourself. You can even describe what the leaves are doing, or other things around you! For example: “The leaves are falling down” ,“She is sleeping”, “I am putting on my shoes”, “You are jumping up and down!”. You know my love of reading! Reading with and to your child is a great way not only to practice literacy skills but to also expand speech and language skills. Plus, it gives you the opportunity to bond with your child. Check out "Room on the Broom" by Julia Donaldson. It’s a great book; perfect for answering questions like who, what, and where. Happy Reading!
