November 2024
Principal's Monthly Message
Hello Eagle Families,
As November begins, I find myself reflecting on the incredible journey we've shared so far this school year. Being part of the Mountain View community fills me with gratitude daily, and I'm continually inspired by the warmth, kindness, and energy that makes MVS such a special place for our students and families.
I am especially grateful for each of our Eagles and their families. Your presence and involvement make Mountain View a place where students feel welcome, supported, and excited to learn.
I am thankful for the compassion and respect that shine through in our school community. Our Eagles demonstrate care and kindness in meaningful ways each day, making Mountain View a positive and safe environment for everyone.
And, of course, I am grateful for our dedicated staff. Their commitment to teaching, guiding, and inspiring your children truly helps them grow into well-rounded, thoughtful citizens. The impact of their hard work is felt every day.
November is an ideal time to talk with your children about gratitude—what it means, why it matters, and all the reasons we have to appreciate those around us. These conversations foster a lifelong mindset of positivity and appreciation.
This month also marks the end of our first trimester, and we’re excited to recognize and celebrate our Eagles' achievements at our upcoming awards assembly! More details will be shared by your child’s teacher soon.
Finally, please enjoy our upcoming break from November 25-29. This time is meant for rest, family, and personal reflection. Let’s use this time to recharge and return ready to finish the year strong. I look forward to seeing everyone back at school on Monday, December 2, 2024.
SOARing with Eagle Pride,
~Mrs. Marich
RESPECTFUL & SAFE
We need your help in continuing the conversation at home regarding students keeping their hands to themselves at school.
We are seeing an increase in physical play during recess, especially when students are playing sports, reacting to disagreements, or even just interacting with friends. While we love to see students engaging in active play, we also need to ensure everyone’s safety by asking all students to keep their hands to themselves and maintain safe space boundaries.
To help keep play safe, please remind students of the following:
- Keep hands to themselves at all times, even when playing with friends.
- Avoid rough play and horseplay, especially during sports or tag games.
- No chase/tag games, by any name.
- If there is a conflict/disagreement, students should tell the other student to "stop", then walk away; if it continues then talk with an adult for help.
- Maintain a safe space from others to prevent accidental bumps or pushes.
Thank you for your help in reinforcing these guidelines at home. Together, we can ensure recess and playtimes are safe and enjoyable for all.
Stop, Walk, Talk
To SOAR, Be Here More!
Your Partnership is Valued and Needed
We appreciate your partnership in prioritizing regular school attendance. Having your student(s) at school, on time, each and every day helps them to be successful in school and beyond. A couple of reminders to help in this mission:
- Breakfast in the MPR is offered daily beginning at 7:15
- Students need to be on-campus and through the gate by the warning bell at 7:55 in order to be with their class, entering the classroom when school starts at 8:00 am.
Students are being recognized for their attendance and encouraged to Be Here, each and every day! Some recognition includes:
- Weekly recognition to the classes with the highest attendance rate
- Weekly drawings for students who had perfect attendance during the prior week
- Attendance Surprise Days - students present on these unannounced days get to participate in fun activities
- Monthly Perfect Attendance Challenges (see below for November's)
We MISS YOU when you are not here and you MISS OUT when you are absent!
National Native American Heritage Month
November is Native American Heritage Month. Every year at this time, we recognize and celebrate the many contributions, rich culture, and extensive histories of the Native American community. We are looking forward to learning and celebrating together about the Indigenous Peoples way of life, traditions, dance, music, crafts, and more.
Reading at Home
Footsteps 2 Brilliance (preschool-3rd grade)
