Scott 2 schools will be closed on Monday, September 2nd for Labor Day.

Classes will resume on Tuesday, September 3rd.

The SMS SADD chapter will hold the first meeting of the 2024-2025 school year during lunches on Thursday, September 5th. There will be reminders and additional information on the announcements for students this week.

The 8th grade engineering students have been busy building trebuchets, which are medieval rock-throwing devices used to knock down castles, walls, etc.

Congresswoman Erin Houchin will be hosting two U.S. Service Academy Days this year. The first event will be at Scottsburg High School on Saturday, September 7th and the second event will be at North Decatur Jr/Sr High School on Saturday, September 28th.

These events are for middle/high school students and parents who are interested in learning more about the U.S. Service Academies – the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, the U.S. Naval Academy, the U.S. Air Force Academy, the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy – all of which offer a free college education to those interested in serving our country.

Our fall sports season is underway.

Cross country, football, volleyball, soccer, and boys tennis are the SMS fall sports.

Students should listen to the afternoon announcements for information about practices and competitions.

Eventlink is the platform that we use to communicate with parents/family members regarding practices and events.

September 2nd - no school

October 14-18 - no school

November 5 - eLearning day

November 11 - no school

November 27-29 - no school

December 23-January 3 - no school

January 20 - no school

February 21 - no school

March 24-28 - no school

May 22 - last day of school

The Scottsburg MS student handbook contains some updates for the 2024-2025 school year. Once again, the most significant changes took place in the attendance section.
