Welcome Back to School
2024 August Edition
Message from Principal Rowell
Soon our hallways will be bustling with excitement and we are eager to see the smiling faces of all our students, as they embark on a new school year. The first day of school is Tuesday, September 3, 2024 and it is a B day. Students should be prepared to attend Periods 5 though 8. In preparation for the start of the school year, we encourage students to login to Skyward and to check their schedules, get into the routine of going to bed early, get themselves organized and ready for the school day structure and review opportunities to be involved at school.
Finding Success At Kohler Public Schools looks like:
1: Doing your best everyday. Come to school prepared and ready to learn. Attend all your classes, be on time, listen and focus on learning. Complete assignments for understanding, study proactively and stay organized.
2: Embracing challenges as a way to grow and get stronger.
3: When there is any doubt "ask", don't wait. Teachers, support staff, school counselors and administrators are ready to help. Accept help and guidance when needed.
4: Having fun and look for meaningful opportunities to get involved in. Engagement in our school community through the activities and athletic offerings increases a sense of belonging. Show your #BomberPride and attend school sponsored activities and athletic events.
Are you looking for ways to support our school? We can use your help; please volunteer.
Visit our school website and click on the Parent Resources Link. There you will find additional information for Kohler School Friends - PTO, Kohler Athletic Booster Bombers (KABB), Kohler School Foundation, and the Performing Arts Organization (PAO).
Safety and Security
Safety is a priority at Kohler Schools. We believe that students excel in welcoming environments where they feel safe and secure. As a result, we are planning to hold two assemblies and classroom discussions, during the first two weeks of school during Advisory.
Officer Schoch, our Community Resource Officer will discuss safety and security, in an Active Threat situation, and provide students choices in their responses, specific to ways to Avoid, Deny, and Defend. In class, teachers will share scenarios and students will discuss their responses.
We encourage all students to participate, yet recognize there may be extenuating circumstances that prevent this. A letter was sent home to families on Wednesday, August 21, in the event you would like to opt your child out of attending the safety presentations and the classroom discussions. If you missed this communication, please use this link.
In addition Kohler Schools is implementing a visitor check in system. All those who visit the school and need entrance beyond the main office, will be required to sign in at the kiosk. The system allows us to secure entry into the building to ensure student and staff safety.
Our newsletter contains useful and timely information to make the transition back to school as smooth as possible. Please reference the Student Handbook, specific to your child's grade level, for more detailed information. This flow chart serves as a guide, for whom to contact, as you navigate communication with the school.
We look forward to seeing you at Sneak Peek and anticipate a great school year. Finally, Kohler High School celebrates its 100th anniversary this year. We plan to celebrate this milestone throughout the year. I invite families to partner with us and welcome your ideas to make Kohler School District a "Destination for Excellence in Learning."
Let's gear up for ... the best school year ever!
Natasha Rowell, Principal
"Kohler School District ... Destination For Excellence In Learning."

Athletics and Activities "SKOOP" from Mr. Sprenger
Fall Athletics and Activities are Back!
It is hard to believe another summer has flown by. It seems like just yesterday that I was watching the Class of 2024 walk across the stage during graduation. Time can be a fickle thing like that for everyone. One moment the students are traveling around the state playing youth sports on the weekends, and the next moment they are walking across the stage receiving their diploma. I think this is something we have to keep in mind in the upcoming year. Parents and students need to enjoy every moment and have fun with whatever sport and/or activity they participate in as time goes by quickly.
It is my hope that everyone who comes out to watch Kohler athletics or activities this year enjoys the game, enjoys watching the students give it their all, and that we all support each other during the good times and also when there may be bumps in the road.
Over the past few years I have seen the Kohler community show a lot of support for our referees, coaches, advisors, opposing teams, student-athletes, and event workers, and made them all feel welcome when they entered our facilities. It is my hope that we continue to show that support to each other and that we enjoy every moment this year, because I believe it will be a great year for our athletics and activities!
Welcome back to another great school year!
Welcome Coach MacDonald!
Lexi MacDonald will be the next Kohler Girls Soccer coach. Lexi has many ties to the Kohler soccer community as she has coached and helped with Lakeshore United FC for several years. Prior to that, she was a graduate assistant coach at Lakeland college, and played college ball at Marian College.
We also want to thank Coach Cassidy for her nine years of coaching and dedication to the girls soccer program!
Go Blue Bombers!
New Weight Room
Kohler School Foundation made a very generous donation to provide all new equipment in the weight room. This is in addition to the new equipment the school district purchased last year. The weight room has new cardio equipment, racks, benches, weights, and storage.
We also hired Jacob Morelli as our new strength and conditioning coach. He will be responsible for working with the individual teams, and helping them create a strength and conditioning program that best fits each team.
I am very excited for our students and community members to use this new facility. I believe it will make a difference in our students health, strength, and conditioning on and off the field.

Remove electronics from sleeping areas. This prevents distraction and promotes better sleep.
