Magyar's Message May 3, 2024
-From The Desk of the Superintendent-
Dear ALCS Families,
We made it to May! Don’t blink, it’s going to go by very quickly. Our schools are buzzing with activities and you can already feel the excitement as the end of the school year is near.
This month continues to be full of celebrations. Today (May 3) is School Lunch Hero Day. It’s a time to recognize the hard-working team members who make a difference in the lives of every child who comes through our cafeterias. We appreciate all you do.
Next week (May 6-10) is Staff Appreciation Week in our district. It’s an opportunity for us to express our gratitude for the impact our entire staff have on our students and families. I have no doubt our PTAs and other volunteer organizations will be showering our staff with amazing gifts and treats throughout the week. Please take the time to thank a staff member.
Within next week are several individual national days to honor staff:
Monday May 6 is School Bus Driver Appreciation Day in Ohio
Tuesday May 7 is National Teacher Day
Wednesday May 8 is National School Nurses Day
I want to extend my deepest appreciation to all of our staff for going above and beyond, inside and outside of the classroom, every day. What you do to inspire our next generation of leaders is exceptional. I am so glad to have the opportunity to work on this team with you. You all are making a difference in the lives of so many. There are not enough words to express our appreciation. THANK YOU!
Hopefully many of you had a chance to take in the recent performances of the “The Little Mermaid” from our talented Avon Lake High School drama students and musicians. The reviews for the shows were amazing. I was completely in awe of the singing, dancing, set design and music. Thank you again to our wonderful directors and all who made the production possible.
We have some very exciting news regarding the show. Congratulations on a record-setting 13 nominations (entire list below) for Dazzle Awards!! The awards inspire and honor excellence in high school musical theater, and recognize the importance of musical theater and arts-education within the Northeast Ohio community.
The winners will be announced at the 2024 Dazzle Awards Ceremony on May 18 at 7:30 p.m. in the KeyBank State Theatre. The ceremony is modeled after the Tony Awards and the students will have the opportunity to walk the red carpet and perform on the big stage. GOOD LUCK!
Reminder, our Community Forum is May 8 at 6:30 p.m. at Learwood Middle School. We hope to see you there.
We thank you for your continued support of our schools.
Sincerely,
Joelle Magyar
