Lockers
Thank you all students and families who volunteered to share a locker. All students will have a locker, and only those who volunteered (and parents completed the google form) will share a locker this upcoming school year.
We will be communicating with you shortly about additional details.
Updated Procedure: Cellphones
SMSD’s Use of Cell Phone/Personal Electronic Devices Guidelines: SMSD is committed to providing highly effective and consistent learning spaces across the district. The personal use of cell phones and other electronic devices that are not district-issued is prohibited unless explicitly permitted by school staff. Medical exemptions may be applied. Initial violations will fall under the Discipline Matrix as a Level 1 offense. Subsequent violations will result in progressive disciplinary action.
Personal Electronic Devices includes, but is not limited to phones, tablets, and gaming systems.
It is highly recommended that personal cell phones and personal electronic devices will be stored within the student’s locker during instruction time. Earbuds and AirPods should not be out without staff approval.
First time it is out, they will be redirected by staff.
If a student has their cell phone out in class again, then the teacher will send student out with a ehall pass for them to put it in their locker. An administrator will meet them there to review the expectation.
Administration and teacher teams will partner with families to develop a plan for students who continually struggle to stay in compliance with the electronic device procedures.
Please review the IHMS Cellphone/Electronic Device Procedure document for further details.
Updated Procedure: Tardies
Any student arriving within the first half or less of a class period will be considered tardy. Arrival after that time will be recorded as an absence. All tardies are unexcused unless documentation is provided to the attendance office indicating an appointment. Every 10 tardies equates to an unexcused absence.
Tardy < Half Class Time
Absent > Half Class Time
Please review the IHMS Tardy Procedure document for more details.
Bond Construction Updates
We are proud of our new facilities and upgrades that are happenings at Hills. To ensure safety of all students and access for all to these upgrades, please talk with your students about respecting, having pride, and taking care of their school.
