Discovery Friday Highlights
Sept. 20, 2024
Dear Discovery Elementary Families,
If you have not already done so, we encourage you to sign up for Discovery Parent Teacher Conferences. Sign up is open until Friday, September 27. After this date, parents will have to communicate directly with the office to make any changes to the Parent Teacher Conferences schedule. Conferences will be held on October 3 (evening), 4 (all day) and 8 (evening). Parent/guardians are asked to bring your student along to their Parent Teacher Conference.
We look forward to celebrating your child's progress at Parent Teacher Conferences. Thank you!

Students can drop off their money and any unsold coupon books at this time. This is also an opportunity for them to pick up additional coupon books to sell if they would like to sell more.

School District Handbook Information
We recognize the important role of parents/guardians and school staff in educating our students about healthy lifestyles. Due to an increased number of students with severe food allergies and the higher levels of severity, we no longer celebrate student birthdays with a "birthday snack" in our schools. Parents are welcome to find other non-food items to send to school if they wish. For example, a book, game, or school supplies may be donated to your child’s classroom. Thanks for understanding.
Helpful Reminders and Information
Arrival and Dismissal
School Day:
Arrival Bell: 8:20 a.m.
Tardy Bell: 8:25 a.m.
Dismissal Bell: 3:00 p.m.
Arrival:
Students utilizing the breakfast program may enter door #7 between 7:40 - 8:20 a.m. Students not eating breakfast at Discovery will wait outside their designated grade level door for the 8:20 a.m. bell. Staff will provide supervision at each door from 8:10 to 8:25. If you arrive after the 8:25 tardy bell, please check in with the office team at door #1. In the event of inclement weather, we will make and implement contingency plans.
Dismissal:
Our students' and staff members' safety is a top priority for us at Discovery. As per district policy, schools will have parents meet their child(ren) at a designated location outside the school at dismissal time. Older siblings will go to the youngest sibling’s assigned door so parents can pick up all children in the same location.
Checking out your child(ren) during the day:
If you are taking your child out of school early for any reason, please call the school office (701-787-4359) and let the office team know the time you plan to pick up. Please walk up to door #1 and push the doorbell to communicate with the school secretaries and check out your child.
Absences & late check in:
If your child is absent or late, please call the attendance line by 8:30 a.m. to leave a message. Communication between home and school ensures students’ safety!
