Cecilton Elementary Update
September 15, 2024
The CES PTO Needs YOU!
Our Cecilton Elementary School PTO is up and running and in deperate need for family support! Our PTO spent time last year trying to rebuild while providing multiple events to bring our staff and families together. From Parents Night Out to Family Bingo to the Winter Wonderland Dance (and more), there were several events for our students to enjoy. And the group needs more hands this year to continue the planned calendar of events. You can see their plans for the year in the newsletter below.
Please read the Interests and Events article below for more information and to let the PTO know that you can support their efforts! Already know you want to help? Click this LINK to let the PTO know that you are ready to go and how you would like to help!
Most importantly, please plan to join us on Thursday evening at 6:00 p.m. for our first meeting of the school year at this LINK. One of the topics we will be discussing is how the CES PTO will be supporting the Cecilton Community Trunk or Treat at the carnival grounds.
Time Capsule
If you had items in the time capsule that was opened last year and you would like to have them, please contact Mrs. Jester in the main office. Thank you!
IMPORTANT ~ Student SAFETY Concern for Transportation
Please do NOT email changes to your child's transportation home during the school day. Please CALL the main office at 410-275-1000 and speak to someone directly. We cannot guarantee that someone has seen an email. All transportation changes are communicated to classrooms at 2:45 p.m. so all changes should be made before that time.
Student Emergency Cards - Sent last week!
CCPS has moved to an online emergency card system. These cards were emailed from Bonnie Jester, our lead secretary, to the first contact last week. Please make sure that all information, especially emergency phone numbers, are up to date. Each child that you have enrolled in the school will generate a separate email. Please be sure to check all emergency cards. If you did not receive the email or if you can no longer find it, please call the main office at 410-275-1000 to have another electronic emergency card sent. Thank you!
Volunteers Wanted
As a staff, we are looking for ways to increase our parent presence in our classrooms and this is a wonderful way to do so. By considering volunteer training, parents and family members are able to complete all training requirements for being in classrooms as well as for chaperoning, field trips, becoming homeroom sponsors, and more.
At CES, we are in dire need of Spanish speaking volunteers. If you speak Spanish and want to help at school, please contact us. We have a range of opportunities, both in the building and work from home, that can help support our students. Once the google form is completed, our Community School Advisor, Mrs. Morris, will contact you. Please reach out with any questions!

Community School Newsletter
Please take a few moments to read the September newsletter from our Community School Advisor, Mrs. Kim Morris. Inside this newsletter, you can find information about the services that she provides to the school and to all of our families. The newsletter is written in both English and Spanish.
Mrs. Morris's role is to provide a variety of services for families experiencing food insecurity, homelessness, and other situations that make it difficult to get their children to school on time and every day. Mrs. Morris can also help families connect with county serivces for things like immunizations and flu shots, etc. As a part of her role, Mrs. Morris also supports the training and organization of our volunteer program. Please reach out if and when you need assistance.
