Greenwich Township School District
8th Grade Dialogue π
The Gloucester County School Boards Association hosted its annual 8th Grade Dialogue on Thursday, March 21, 2024, at Pitman Jr./Sr. High School.
The dialogues are a way for students and board members to exchange views and ideas. Students speak about an array of issues that are important to students, board members and school districts throughout the county.
This event is a celebration of eight-grade students who have demonstrated exceptional character, determination, leadership, and community service, inspiring us all.
The Greenwich Township School District was fortunate to be represented by Rian Caldwell. A wonderful evening was had by her parents, family, Dr. Foley, Superintendent, and Mrs. Erin Herzberg, School Board President.
Congratulations Rian on a job well done!
π΅Exciting News from Mr. Haney! πΌ
"On Saturday May 11th the 30th annual All South Jersey Elementary Honor Band Festival took place, and we were lucky enough to have 5 of our band students participate in this event. Nolan Forlano, Sophia Henderson, Katelyn Barow, and Sophia Melnychuck from Nehaunsey all represented our NMS Band; and Juliana Fisler from Broad Street represented our BSS Band. The students participated in an all-morning rehearsal which led up to a massive concert involving the best elementary students (grades 4-6) in all of Southern NJ. These kids did a great job, and I am very proud of their accomplishments. Thank you as always for allowing these students to expand their world of music education and for your support of the music program here in Gibbstown." Thank you for all of your hard work and dedication, Mr. Haney. This is a wonderful accomplishment by all!

Staff Spotlight β¨
March:
Rebecca Layton - Broad Street School Aide -
Mrs. Layton always comes in with a huge smile, positive attitude, and willingness to help all students. Fairly new to us, she has added a layer of support to our upstairs students. Most importantly, she cares about her students, this school, and always wants to a great job!
Michelle Neigut - NMS ELA Teacher -
Ms. Neigut was recognized by her peers for a variety of reasons. Most recently, her efforts to support the 6/7 grade fundraiser were "clutch in communicating with Walmart to make it all happen; she was even able to get a portion of the pies donated! Her spirit and energy are always present, and her peers feel "she always goes above and beyond"!
April:
Tara Reale-Broad Street, Preschool Teacher- She has gone out of her way to lead workshops with the other preschool teachers. Mrs. Reale is a great educator who works hard to ensure that student needs are met! We are thankful to have you!
Lauren Ernst-NMS, ELA/Social Studies Teacher-Mrs. Ernst is recognized for her positive attitude, her boundless energy, and her love of supporting our students in developing new interests and skills. She is currently attending graduate school to enrich our G & T programming and she canβt say no to acting as club advisor for a number of clubs. Perhaps most deserving of this recognition are her efforts in producing the annual play/musical. This yearβs, like each one she has led, was another great show!
Thank you all for going above and beyond for our students, staff, and administrators!!

Take Your Child to Work Day! πΌ
Mrs. Delaney's son, Owen was able to come spend the day with the 3rd grade kiddos. He wants to be a Paleontologist and 3rd grade were studying fossils. He presented a lesson on Paleontology to the students and set up a curated a museum in Mrs. Delaney's classroom where the students could see and feel items from his fossil collection and geology/rock/gem collection. The students were even able to hold a megalodon tooth and a real dinosaur bone fossil! Thank you so much for sharing this with us, Mrs. Delaney and a huge thank you to your son, Owen for not just spending the day with us but, for sharing your passion and making it into an interactive/fun learning experience for our 3rd grade kiddos!
π°Stock Market Game! π
From Mrs. Shirley:
The last day for the Stock Market Game was Friday, April 19th.
The game began with choosing a partner, creating a team name, and investigating stocks using Yahoo Finance. The students are given $100,000 to use throughout the game. Initially, they are to purchase at least 5 stocks or bonds utilizing their entire amount. Throughout the game, adjustments are made by selling and buying.
I am amazed at the selections that they made when purchasing their stocks. (I should have taken their tips and invested real money!)
Over a million students internationally play the Stock Market Game. Our school played against 151 New Jersey teams.
For the past two weeks we have had all of our fifth-grade teams in the top 20!!
A lot happened this final week:
the Packers dropped to 3rd place and then to 4th place- which is no fault of their own, but what happened to their stock(s).
The Real Teletubbies jumped into 3rd place! The Actual Teletubbies, played as a team again this year placing 5th. Last year, as first time players they placed 3rd!
Sticky Marshmallow Feet went from 15th place on Tuesday to 72nd on Thursday. Quick adjustments on Friday brought them back up to 52nd!
The students really have learned the concept of how to buy their stocks and read the graphs!
I am very proud of our students to have placed so high in New Jersey!!!
Congratulations to all!
Team Work Makes the Dream Work! πͺπΌ
In April, Dr. Wehrle hosted our 1st annual teamwork/team building event! Teamwork is essential for success in many aspects of life, including school, work, and personal relationships.
There are many benefits to teaching children teamwork, including improved communication skills, enhanced problem-solving abilities, and increased self-esteem. It also helps children develop social skills and learn to work with others.
Dr. Wehrle did a fantastical job setting up various stations with incorporating different, age-appropriate teambuilding activities. The kids were so excited and were all cheering their teammates on! A terrific effort given by all, thank you again Dr. Wehrle for hosting this event for our kiddos!!
