We will have school at City Hope Church. This will allow us to prepare for the Christmas Program. The school day hours will be normal from 8:15-3:15. We will drop off and pick up students on 3rd Street. There is an attached map and the X is the entrance we will use for pick up and drop off. I ask that you drop off and pick up students when your car is facing west to avoid children having to potentially cross the street. For drop off, pull up and drop your children off and then move forward out of the line. For pick up, please start the line at the X and line the side of 3rd Street Down by the tennis courts. If traffic gets to Perrine Street, please be mindful of traffic so we don’t cause any traffic congestion. There will be morning SACC starting at 7:30 (Drop off at the spot listed above.). There WILL NOT be afternoon SACC. Everyone will need to be picked up by 3:30 to allow everyone time to prepare for the Christmas program. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Lunch is being provided that day. We will have pizza, juice, and cookies. If your child would prefer to eat something else, that is fine but microwaves will not be available. Ms. Alex will remain at school to take phone calls and relay any needed information. We will have a medicine kit that will travel with us for needed medications or any situations that may come up. Backpacks won’t be needed that day unless you are transporting props for the play. Teachers will have all needed materials for the day.
This year, we will have a morning performance at City Hope Church @ 9:30 for grandparents or anyone else not able to attend the evening performance. This will be a rehearsal so plan for stopping, do overs, slip ups, and a few laughs. The doors will open at 9:15.
*8th Grade Parents: You will be able to claim your seats anytime during the day on Thursday before 3:00 or Wednesday from 5:30 to 7 at City Hope. If you can’t make those times work, let me know, and we will work something out. Each family can reserve two seats.
PROGRAM NIGHT
In case you are still not certain, the program is at City Hope Church located on 1000 E 3rd Street. The doors open at 5:30. The program begins at 6:30. Seating will be on a first come first serve basis. INVITE anyone and everyone. There will be plenty of room and the program is going to be grand as always. You will need to enter through the main entrance to the church which is off of 2nd Street. Parking will be at that entrance or in the parking lot by the tennis courts. There is an enclosed tunnel to get you to the main entrance from that parking lot.

From the NHCS Board of Directors:
Dear Parents, Grandparents, and Supporters,
As we enter the season of giving, we at NHCS are excited to come together as a community to show our appreciation for our wonderful teachers and staff with a Christmas bonus. Each year, we are filled with joy as we witness the surprise and happiness on their faces when they receive these bonuses. While the financial gift is certainly important, it is truly the spirit of giving that touches their hearts the most.
We all know that we can't fully express how much our teachers and staff are worth. Each individual plays an incredible role in shaping the lives of our beloved children. They are here at NHCS with a dedicated mission to educate and guide our students in knowledge and truth. With your generous support, we hope to provide additional help for our teachers and staff.
As families gather to express gratitude, let’s take a moment to pray for our teachers and honor them with a financial gift.
To contribute, please make your checks payable to New Horizon Christian School and write “teacher bonus” in the memo line. We kindly request that all donations be submitted to the office by Thursday, December 19th.
Thank you so much for your generosity!
The New Horizon Christian School Board of Directors

Theme for the 2024-2025 School Year
In Matthew 5:5, the 3rd BEATITUDE it says:
"Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth."
Meek, in this scripture is not saying we should all be little weaklings.
Meek does not = weakness.
Meekness means ‘Strength under Control’
Most of you adults reading this have some understanding of what ‘strength under control’ would look like in our daily lives.
But we have to admit…right now out in the world….it seems as if everyone would have their own spin on what they think ‘strength under control’ looks like.
In Judges 17:6 the second half of the verse says, “everyone did what was right in his own eyes” ….sounds like the world we live in now….doesn’t it?
So….WHY.... was everyone doing their own thing?….in the first part of this verse it points to the “why”…… “In those days there was no king in Israel.”( Judges 17:6)
There is no king here at NHCS either…
…but WE here at NHCS do know “THE KING”, and it is from HIS lips we are given the Beatitudes.
This list is for each and every one of us, personally.
It is from the 3rd Beatitude we chose the theme for our 2024/25 school year, ‘Strength under Control’, we feel this summarizes the Beatitudes as a whole…
…. JESUS gave the SERMON on the MOUNT as a teaching…JESUS understood that the people listening needed taught these concepts…..and a key word for us here at NHCS is ‘teach’……just like the people on the mount needed the teachings from JESUS……our children and us adults need these teachings also. ….
As mentioned earlier how the world is going its own way…. why?....because they do not know the KING…we are going to use the words of the KING to teach our students here at NHCS how to live a life with STRENGTH under CONTROL.
We have written the Beatitudes in a simplified form in order to express their meanings; not only for our students, but for us adults also who are teaching them.
You can find The Beatitudes in Matthew 5:2-12
The Beatitudes
2 And he opened his mouth and taught them, saying:
3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4 “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.
5 “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.
6 “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.
7 “Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy.
8 “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.
9 “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons[a] of God.
10 “Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
When I remain teachable. (September)
When I’m truly sad when I sin. (October)
When I use self-control in difficult situations. (November)
When I seek what is biblically right. (December)
When I show mercy to others. (January)
When the motives of my heart are innocent. (February)
When I seek peace with others. (March)
When I stand for JESUS, even when it is hard. (April)
