Principal's Message From Dr. Otway
Dear College Park Elementary Families,
Happy Labor Day Weekend! Can you believe it? We've already completed a month of school! Growing up in Massachusetts and New York, we were just getting started around this time, but here we are, full steam ahead. Our 5th graders have already hit a major milestone, acing their first math test with an impressive 85% mastery. This is just the beginning, as we're gearing up to dive into our goal-setting efforts using the iReady data.
Now, it's your turn to get ready to join us for an exciting event where you can witness our leadership lessons in action and see what our new grade-level expectations look like. Mark your calendars for Friday, September 20th!
Schedule for the Day:
- 7:10 AM - 8:00 AM: Start your day with coffee and snacks with me, where I'll get you ready for the morning ahead.
- 8:00 AM - 9:30 AM: Dive into the school day with a hands-on Leadership Morning Meeting, followed by a guided experience through your child's day during our new EXPO days. This process is designed to bring all parents and caregivers into the classroom, giving you an up-close look at what learning and leadership look like at College Park.
If you have any questions or need more information, don't hesitate to reach out to our Family Engagement Specialist, Ashley Adams, at adamsa8@fultonschools.org.
Looking forward to seeing you there!
Warm regards,
Dr. Maisha N. Otway
Principal, College Park Elementary School
September is...
Attendance Awareness Month
This year's theme is Be Present, Be Powerful! It is a reminder of the connection between school attendance and realizing our hopes and dreams. It highlights the role that school plays in promoting student well-being and achievement. Be Present, Be Powerful! is a call for everyone to focus on ensuring students show up every day, even when it isn’t easy
Suicide Prevention Awareness Month
September is National Suicide Prevention Month, a time dedicated to raising awareness, fostering open conversations, and promoting resources to support mental health. It’s an opportunity to remind ourselves and others that help is available and that no one is alone in their struggles. Let’s work together to build a supportive community, encourage dialogue, and extend compassion to those who may be in need of support.
Hispanic Heritage Month
From September 15 to October 15, we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, honoring the rich cultures, histories, and contributions of Hispanic and Latino communities. This is a wonderful opportunity to explore and appreciate the diverse traditions, arts, and achievements that have shaped our world.
Important Updates, Reminders & Policies
House Sorting Day Sept. 6
Which house will our new leaders join? We are busy getting the magic wheel ready and finishing up our final plans to ensure all of our leaders have a house! Our new Prek-2nd grade students will be sorted and our new 3rd-5th graders will be spin into their houses Friday, September 6. Can't wait for you to see the fun.
Students must be in uniform to attend.
Check out our HYPE REEL on Instagram!
Daily Uniform is our School Dress Code Policy
- Returning students wear their House color polo with the College Park logo or their House team t-shirt, paired with khaki bottoms.
- New scholars, Pre-K who have not yet been sorted into a House, wear a gray or white polo until they receive their house assignment. Once sorted, they will join their peers in wearing their House color polo or team t-shirt with khaki bottoms.
- We’re here to help ensure that every leader is ready to succeed!
*If there is any assistance needed in obtaining the appropriate uniforms, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us at College Park Elementary. 470-254-8040

Empowering a Legacy of Leadership
Learning the 7 habits of highly successful kids is part of our leadership journey at Princeton's Leadership Academy @College Park Elementary. This exercise helps students understand how shifting their perspectives can positively impact their learning and personal growth.
Pictured: Ms. Offord’s 1st grade class discussing the growth mindset process as part of their Leader in Me module. Emphasizing the importance of believing in their abilities. Practicing a growth mindset helps our scholars develop resilience and a positive attitude towards learning, empowering them to confidently tackle new challenges with the belief that they can succeed.
Blue House Blue Out
This week, Rêveur Dreamers took center stage, sitting on the stage during lunch table and sharing fascinating facts about their house during the morning announcements. On Friday, the entire school showed their support by wearing blue to celebrate the Blue House’s remarkable achievement. The enthusiasm and unity displayed exemplify our school spirit, proving that while we are four houses, we are one College Park!

Setting The Culture
As we wrap up the first month of school, we want to share how our efforts to set a positive culture and clear expectations have been progressing. Each day after dismissal, our dedicated faculty, teachers, and staff have met to discuss and refine our new school safety dismissal procedures, improve hallway transitions, and ensure consistent application of our ROAR expectations for students.
To express our gratitude for their hard work in building a supportive and organized school environment, we are pleased to announce that our teachers have received new iPads, generously purchased by the School Governance Council (SGC). These tools will aid them in continuing to provide excellent education and support.
