Valley Creek Families,

Thank you all for another amazing week. We have really enjoyed all the fun celebrating fundraiser incentives. If you have not had the opportunity, please check out our amazing Valley Creek Community Garden. Our fabulous PTA has been working hard to make the best school garden at the best school in the land!

Looking ahead, we have several exciting events coming up:

• Fall Break: 10/11 -10/15: Hope you enjoy your time off!
• Walk to School Day: 10/16
• Bulldog Run: 10/19

On October 24th from 6-8 pm, Valley Creek Elementary will be hosting Family Culture & Traditions Night, and we want YOU to be a part of it because family traditions matter!

What’s this night all about?
It’s about celebrating the rich tapestry of cultures, traditions, and heritage that make up our incredible Valley Creek community. We ALL have something to share—whether it’s the food we eat, the music we listen to, the stories we tell, or the traditions that have been passed down through generations in our families. Now is the time to put it on display!

Here’s how YOU can get involved:

• Showcase Your Culture: Create a display highlighting your family’s culture or traditions. This could include photos, artifacts, traditional clothing, or anything that represents your heritage and who you are
• Share Your Delicious Foods: Bring a dish that represents your culture! Whether it’s an old family recipe or a popular favorite from your heritage, we’re ready to taste it all!
• Perform and Share Your Traditions: If your family has a traditional dance, song, or performance, we would LOVE to see it! We want to celebrate through music, dance, and storytelling.

This is a night where our Valley Creek family comes together to learn, share, and celebrate. Whether your family has been here for generations, or you’ve recently joined our community, we want everyone to feel included and represented!

Let’s make this night unforgettable by celebrating all the wonderful cultures and traditions that make Valley Creek so special. 🌟

If you’re interested in hosting a display, sharing a dish, or performing, please let us know by completing the google forms.

Thank you for your compliance and understanding as we follow these district security protocols:

• A valid state or government issued photo ID must be presented each time you visit, volunteer, or pick up a student.
• Please be prepared to present your physical ID upon arrival.
• We are not be able to accept photos of ID's on phones.
• We will not be able to admit anyone to volunteer, visit, or pick up a student that does not present their physical ID.

• A background check is required each school year for people wanting to volunteer in McKinney ISD.
• This includes making copies, PTA events, lunch duty coverage, classroom parties, field trips, and other volunteering that takes place inside and outside our building.
• We encourage all parents and guardians to complete your volunteer application as soon as possible to avoid any delay in the processing.
• Anyone that has not completed a volunteer application and had it approved will not be able to volunteer in any capacity inside or outside of our building.

Tuesday October 15th - PTA - 4:00pm - 5:00pm - Chalk the Walk - Come join friends and decorate the paths to Valley Creek for Walk to School Day. Bring chalk to share, or borrow some, and meet at the front/back of the school to decorate.

Wednesday October 16th - First day of 2nd Quarter - No visitors or volunteers

PTA Walk to School Day - McKinney High Drumline to welcome students as they walk to school

Wednesday October 16th - Tuesday October 22nd - VCE Library - Storybook Pumpkin Decorating - Info below!

Thursday October 17th - 6:00pm - 8:00pm - at CEC - MISD Community Resource Night - The purpose of the Fall Community Resource Night is to connect community resources with families in need to help improve and sustain the quality of life for students and families of McKinney ISD.

Friday October 18th - Meeting at the Creek - Quarterly celebration for staff and students only

MISD Pink Out Day - wear pink in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month
