PARKER WEEKLY BULLETIN
Week of 3-17-2025
Message from Principal Blagg
Good afternoon Parker Families:
It was another busy week at Parker. Longer days and warmer temperatures are finally here, and the students seemed to really embrace the hints of Spring in the air. I saw many wearing shorts -now that is optimistic! There are just a couple of weeks remaining in Term 3 which seems hard to believe! The students continue to work hard as they continue to grow and learn. Please reach out to your child's teacher if you have concerns in regard to their academic progress. The first round of MCAS testing will begin in early April with our ELA assessment. It is recommended that students continue to faithfully complete their 45 minutes of both reading and math iReady lessons as they continue to build skills at their current mastery level. These drill sessions along with continued homework completion and outside reading will help prepare the students for the MCAS. MCAS is a good tool to assess where the strengths and areas of growth lie in each student. It is one source of data to help inform instruction to best meet the needs of each student. Encourage your child to do their best while stressing that this is not something to be stressed about. Students perform their best when they feel supported and calm.
MCAS DATES:
Thursday & Friday - April 3rd and 4th -Grade 5 ELA
Tuesday & WednEsday -April 8th and 9th - Grade 6 ELA
Monday & Tuesday - May 5th and 6th - Grade 5 Science
Monday & Tuesday - May 12th and 13th - Grade 5 Math
Thursday & Friday -May 15th and 16th - Grade 6 Math
March Artists of the Month
Huge congratulations are in order for our March Artists of the Month Emma Limauro and Celia Daigle. Each of these students have thrived under the direction of Ms. Norman. Their artwork is both imaginative and thought provoking. We are so very proud of them!

WORLD DOWN SYNDROME DAY
ROCK YOUR SOCKS on Friday, March 21st for World Down Syndrome Day! Chromosomes are what make us all unique. Most people have 2 copies of each chromosome. People with Down syndrome have 3 copies of chromosome #21. That's why World Down Syndrome Day is celebrated on 3-21 every year. Why socks? Because under a microscope, a pair of chromosomes look like a pair of socks!! Wear your favorite pair of fun or fancy socks next Friday!!

AFTER SCHOOL CLUBS & ACTIVITIES & LATE BUSES
Our after-school programs will start on Tuesday, October 15th. The Activity Fee is $50 per student. To pay PLEASE CLICK ON LINK My School Bucks or send in cash or checks made payable to Chelmsford Public Schools and turn into your child's homeroom teacher. The activity fee allows students to take full advantage of any clubs they wish to attend. The after-school activities run from 2:40-3:40 on Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday throughout the year. Students also have the option of taking a late bus home. The routes are posted in the school and will not be posted publicly. We will work with students and the drivers to be sure students take the correct bus home. Since we only have 8 late buses, for both McCarthy and Parker the stops tend to be more spread out than the “regular” bus runs. After activities, students who are not taking a bus will exit the school into the Crooked Spring Road lot and can be picked up there.
