Claymont Open House
We are beyond excited to welcome families to Claymont Elementary School Open House TOMORROW, September 9, 2024 from 5:30-7:00 pm.
We listened to feedback from families last school year and made some changes to open house to maximize the effectiveness of the evening for all families.
- Greetings from Dr. Smith can be found HERE. Simply click the link to meet the administration of Claymont and get more information about the expectations and supports available at Claymont.
- There are two times to aide with parking and to allow families with students in multiple grade levels to spend valuable time with their student's teacher.
- Grades K-2 will meet with their homeroom teacher from 5:30-6:00 pm
- Grades 3-5 will meet with their homeroom teacher from 6:15-6:45 pm
- Specialists will be available in the cafeteria to meet with families from 6:00-7:00 pm
A huge thank you to our neighbor in the community, Waterfall Banquet Hall. We hope that parking is not a challenge, but if it is, they have agreed to allow us to use their parking lot. If you are unable to find a parking spot, you are welcome to park at the Waterfall Banquet Hall.
- If you live within walking distance of Claymont, you are strongly encouraged to walk as to leave parking for our families who must drive.
Teachers are ready to share how your students will learn and grow this school year! Make sure you come with your calendar ready so that you can schedule your October Parent Teacher Conference. It is going to be an exciting evening of adult learning and growing as we partner to support our students.

Safety is Our Priority
Parents, parking and releasing your students on Green Street, the surrounding streets, or in the front parking lot is NOT permitted. This is a HUGE safety hazard! Our buses park in the front of our building and dropping your student off there puts them in grave danger, especially when you get out of the car and tell them to do something different from the adults on duty. Additionally, we want to be respectful to our surrounding community and your neighbors by following our systems for dismissal and arrival.
If your student arrives or gets picked up from school via car, utilize the car line. If we see this happening at dismissal you will be asked by staff to please go to the car line. Your student will be at the car line door for pick up.
Did you know that missing just two days per month means a child misses 10% of the school year!? Early dismissals and late arrivals count too😱 and after 8:55 a.m. your student is officially tardy.
Please help us help your student by ensuring they are in the building available for learning each and every day!

Staff Jersey Day
Our amazing Claymont staff participated in Jersey Day on Friday. There was a lot of green in the building as we prepared to cheer the Eagles to victory and we won't hold it against those staff members who know not what they do and dare root for any other team.
