SPOTLIGHT
on New Milford Schools
Message from Superintendent, Dr. Janet Parlato
Dear New Milford Public Schools Families, Faculty, Staff, and Community Members,
I hope that you are enjoying these summer days! We are keeping busy in the school district with our extended school year programming, extra cleaning and maintenance at all of our school buildings and grounds, and planning for the 2024-25 school year. We are looking forward to welcoming close to 3,600 students back to our schools on Monday, August 26!
I would like to introduce you to one of our district's key concepts this year, which is Being On-Track. Families and students in all five schools will hear the phrase "on-track" used throughout the year. Being On-Track in the New Milford Public Schools is about Academics, Being Here (Attendance), Community, and Doing the Right Thing (Behavior and Conduct). Each of these elements of being On-Track leads to a successful school experience for students as they grow and progress through the grade levels. Each step along the track brings every learner closer to our New Milford Public Schools Vision of a Graduate, pictured here:
Please be sure to sign up for our new communication platform, ParentSquare, which includes a phone app for easy-to-receive messages from the schools and the school district.
Please take care to enjoy the last few weeks of August, and we can't wait to welcome students back to the district on August 26!
Thank you for your continued support of our students and our schools.
Janet P. Parlato, Ed.D.
Superintendent of New Milford Public Schools

Dear Families,
We are excited to announce that we adopted a new form of school-to-home communication at New Milford Public Schools called ParentSquare (parentsquare.com). This unified communications platform is designed to keep parents and guardians informed and encourage greater engagement and connection with New Milford Public Schools. It provides a safe way for district administrators, school principals, teachers, staff, and parents to:
Send and receive school and class information
Share pictures and files
See calendar items
Sign up to volunteer
Schedule parent-teacher conferences
and much more . . . all in one centralized place!
All district and school, grade level and classroom information will now be sent to your computer or phone via email and/or text. For even more convenience, download the ParentSquare app (available for free for iOS and Android devices).
Have questions once you activate your account? Click the question mark in the top right corner of the desktop version or the Help tab on the app (tap the triple bar icon at the top left) to find answers to most of your questions. We will send more updates throughout the summer regarding ParentSquare.

Estimadas familias:

Our new school messaging system is called ParentSquare. Going forward, we will use this to communicate information from the school.
Open House is scheduled for August 23rd from 12:30 to 1:30. This is an opportunity for parents, care-givers and students to meet the teacher, visit the classroom, and get acclimated with the building. Please be on the lookout for the informational postcard that will go home in mid-August and be sure to scan the QR codes for more information about the New Milford School District, and Parent Square.
Transportation information is found on the district website and is usually published about a week before school begins. It's there you will find your child's bus assignment and approximate pick up and drop off times.
The first day of school is Monday, August 26th. On August 26th and 27th there is early dismissal at 1 PM. We are looking forward to the new faces and welcoming everyone back to school. Please be aware that during the first weeks of school, bus times for drop off and pick up are APPROXIMATE, and will vary until routines are established. It is important for you to be early to the bus stop until set times become regular.
