Our Commitment to a Secure School Environment
We are dedicated to providing a safe and secure environment for all students and staff. With the valuable support of Officer Price and Officer Jewell, we conduct routine safety measures, including occasional K-9 sweeps on campus, to reinforce security and maintain a safe learning space. Student safety remains our top priority.
Additionally, part of maintaining campus security is ensuring that all vehicles in our parking lot are registered. Students, if you don’t have a parking pass displayed on your rear-view mirror, please visit the office as soon as possible to purchase one. Remember, the front row is reserved for visitors during school hours.
For more information on the guidelines that contribute to a positive and secure environment, please refer to our high school handbook. Together, we create a safe space for every student.
Fall Play: One Stoplight Town
We’re excited to present One Stoplight Town by Tracy Wells as our fall play! This heartwarming and humorous story takes place in a tiny town you might drive through without noticing, but if you pause, you’ll discover a world of connection. From a young couple falling in love, to a grocery store owner grappling with change, to a family dealing with the push and pull of home, each character brings their unique charm and story to life. Packed with laughter, emotion, and the reminder that change comes for all of us, this play is a must-see!
Performances will be held on November 7, 8, and 9 at 7:00 PM. Tickets are $10. Don’t miss out on this touching and memorable performance!

Medical Explorers Program Opportunity for Students
The Medical Explorers experience, offered through Kent ISD, is an exciting opportunity for students interested in the medical field. Held at Corewell Health, this 7-week program runs from Feb. 4 through March 18. Students will have the chance to explore two different hospital departments, observe professionals in action, and get a real-life look at careers in healthcare. More details can be found [here].
A student reference form is required for the application and should be submitted to Krista Harmon from the Workforce Development team at kristaharmon@kentisd.org. Applications and references are due by December 1, 2024, at 11:59 PM.
Be FAFSA Ready: Important Steps for Students and Parents!
The new 2025–26 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) form will be available by Dec. 1, 2024. Completing the FAFSA is essential for accessing federal grants, scholarships, work-study programs, and student loans. It also determines eligibility for state aid, like the Michigan Achievement Scholarship, which could cover up to $27,500 for college!
To make FAFSA completion as smooth as possible, students and parents should:
- Create your StudentAid.gov account or ensure you can access your existing account.
- Parents (if your student is under 24) should also create their own account if required.
What You'll Need:
- Full name (as it appears on your Social Security card)
- Date of birth
- Personal email address
- Social Security number (if applicable)
For more details and assistance, visit StudentAid.gov. Remember to use an email address you'll have access to long-term, and check if a parent or spouse also needs to create an account.

Steel for Steel Fundraiser Reminder: Let's Fill the Bin!
Since launching the recycling program at CSHS, we’ve recycled over 20,000 pounds of scrap metal and raised nearly $2,000! Our green bin in the northeast corner of the high school parking lot is almost full—let’s top it off!
If you have any scrap metal to donate, please drop it in the bin (remember: no trash, as non-metal items incur a charge for the school). Thank you for your continued support!
