Message from the Principal
Dear CETC Families,
We've had a fantastic start to the second semester! We have over 1,500 students on campus who are engaging in rigorous career pathways that are preparing them for bright futures.
Here are some Important Reminders:
- Parking: Our campus is full this semester! Parking can be challenging, so we encourage students to carpool whenever possible. If parking on campus is unavailable, please remind students to prioritize safety when crossing streets in neighboring areas.
- Parent-Teacher Conferences: Parent-Teacher Conferences are scheduled for Wednesday, February 5th. Please refer to the previous email sent out for conference times and the sign-up link.
- Course Registration: Don't forget to submit your course requests for the 2025-2026 school year.
This newsletter highlights our award-winning AgriScience Program. We are incredibly proud to announce that this program earned the most iCEV certifications of any high school Agriculture program in the state of Colorado during the 2023-2024 school year!

Student Spotlight
FFA Officers
The SVVSD FFA Chapter is thriving thanks to the dedication of our elected officers. These passionate students serve as ambassadors for agriculture, inspiring the next generation and educating the public about its importance. This year, our Officers have successfully led numerous chapter activities, including Officer Meetings, Ag Conferences, Career Development Events, and engaging social events like Back to School BBQs and a chili cook-off. Beyond the chapter, they've actively collaborated with our schools and community on important initiatives like Colorado Proud School Meal Day and Farm to School programs.
These officers exemplify strong leadership by balancing their demanding roles with academic responsibilities through effective time management and teamwork. We are incredibly proud of their hard work, dedication, and the positive impact they have on our chapter and community!
Partner Spotlight
iCEV
Our Agricultural Sciences program works with iCEV, a leader in career and technical education. This collaboration provides students with access to valuable industry certifications and equips teachers with an innovative learning platform. iCEVs' platform offers customizable courses, multimedia lessons, and supporting coursework, enhancing the learning experience for all. Working with iCEV will equip our students with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in the exciting world of agriculture.
Program Spotlight
Agricultural Sciences
Agricultural education is for students desiring to learn about the science, business, and technology of plant and animal production; preparing students for successful careers and a lifetime of informed choices in the global agriculture, food, fiber, and natural resources systems. Through agricultural education, students are provided opportunities for leadership development, personal growth, and career success. Instruction is delivered through three major components: classroom/laboratory instruction (contextual learning), Supervised Agricultural Experience programs (work-based learning), and the student leadership organization (National FFA Organization).
Meet the Teachers
Lauren Hart and Rebecca Pennock
What do you like most about working at CETC?
Mrs. Hart: One thing I love most about teaching at the Career Elevation and Technology Center is the strong sense of community. Our students come from across the district, bringing a wide variety of backgrounds and experiences, yet they share common interests and passions. Every day is different in the classroom, with new projects, visitors, and activities and events happening.
Ms. Pennock: Everyone is incredibly welcoming and always willing to help out. The staff is so supportive, and it creates a fantastic environment to work in. The students are also amazing—they’re eager to learn and make teaching here so rewarding.
What are your interests and hobbies outside of work?
Mrs. Hart: I love spending time with my family, listening to music, reading, and having sweet treats!
Ms. Pennock: I love being outdoors, skiing, baking, and spending time with family and friends.
Event Highlights and Celebrations
Thank you to the Bates Philanthropic Initiative for their generous support of SVVSD students. We look forward to expanding opportunities for our students.
Ag students attended Colorado FFA Day at the National Western Stock Show in Denver.
FFA students competed in the first ever Auctioneer CDE. Lucian Hamor and Lizzy Flinchum made the top 16 and will compete at State in June.
Teachers and Staff attended multiple High School Open Houses within the district to answer questions for potential new students.
We want to celebrate and highlight our students' achievements beyond CETC! If you have a student success story you'd like to share, please email us at CETC, and we’ll feature them in our next newsletter.
