Our Prevention Specialists, Paul and Anthony, are equipping parents and youth at The Samaritan Inn! The Strengthening Families Program (SFP) is an evidence-based, internationally recognized parenting and youth life-skills training program designed to reduce youth alcohol and drug use and strengthen family cohesiveness and communication skills. The classes are for parents and children to attend together with separate parent and youth breakout groups. 5th Annual Catalyst Christmas with McKinney YMCA
The YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas Catalyst initiative serves the most vulnerable population in our communities. The Dallas Y will launch our 5th Annual Catalyst Christmas this holiday season on December 14, 2024. Catalyst Christmas collects and delivers goods to families in need, seniors with mobility challenges, those with transportation issues, and communities that typically cannot make it to branch-based food and essential distribution facilities.
Be a catalyst for good: donate, volunteer, or both.
2024 CATALYST CHRISTMAS SATURDAY, DECEMBER 14TH, 9 AM – 1 PM:
Distribute and Deliver Baskets to Those in Need
Diligent volunteers are needed to help assemble and deliver food, goods, and winter wear for families across North Texas for the annual Catalyst Christmas Event.
Donate Items: Non-perishable food, holiday sweet treats, toiletries like feminine care products, shampoo, body wash, etc., household essentials like laundry detergent, hand soap, dish soap, toilet paper, etc., or winter warmth items like blankets, hats, socks, and gloves, etc., and family board games, etc. are welcomed.
Non-Perishable Items
Box Items: Stuffing Mix, Instant Potatoes, Rice (Bag), Mac & Cheese
Can Items: Green Beans, Corn, Cranberry Sauce, Sweet Potatoes (Yams), Pumpkin, Milk or Cream
Other Items: Hot Cocoa, Coffee, Packaged Holiday Cookies, Popcorn for the holidays in Tin Can, Spices (Cinnamon, Garlic Powder, Onion Powder, Oregano, Thyme, Paprika, and Sage), Batteries (AA & AAA), etc.
The event is designed to collect and deliver much-needed groceries and goods to seniors with mobility challenges and individuals with transportation issues who cannot visit branch-based food and essential distribution facilities. The YMCA plans to do this all within a 24-hour window, so having a large volunteer group is essential. According to Feeding Texas, 1 in 8 Texans experience food insecurity, with children, seniors, veterans, people with disabilities, and working families being among those impacted in every Texas county.
