Lincoln Bulletin-
This week I joined our primary classrooms every morning during their morning meetings. As I mentioned in my curriculum night presentation we are all beginning our days with morning meetings, this is a wonderful way to build our sense of belonging. It was so great to begin my days hearing each student greet one another by name, share something about themselves, each classroom did a different activity together, and then wrapped up with a morning message. Our kindergarten watched a brief video that highlighted growth mindset and the "Power of Yet". Each student in first grade talked about something they wanted to learn and what they can do to achieve those goals, emphasizing that it takes hard work to learn and grow. I wrapped up my week with second grade today and they greeted one another with a cheer, highlighting even numbers. This intentional practice builds self-esteem and so many positive skills within our students.
I was also able to join our remote classrooms this week, Mrs. Furlong invited me to read a book to our students in her classroom, it was great to hear the discussion and theme the students learned from the book Odd Dog Out! by Rob Biddulph. I also joined Ms. Schiewe's first-grade classroom and listened to our first graders talk about different community members and how they help, students highlighted nurses, teachers, garbage men, police, and many other professions that help every day. It was great to hear our students participating in class and seeing their faces.
