Welcome Emily Oakley to the Shaw Montessori Community!
Ms. Emily Oakley is pleased to join the Shaw Montessori community for the 2021-2022 school year! She was first called to be a Montessori teacher when her second son attended a 3-6 Montessori class in Tempe. She states, "The spark of joy in a child's eye when a new idea or big concept hits them is such an exciting experience." Ms. Emily joins us from Khalsa Montessori Elementary where she has guided a 6-9 classroom for the past 2 years. She has a Bachelor of Science, MBA, and Montessori credential through Arizona Montessori Teacher Education Preparation Program (American Montessori Society and MACTE accredited). Ms. Emily is drawn to work for a true Public Montessori in the downtown Phoenix area. Lower Elementary provides an amazing transformation for the child, with so many wonderful learning experiences to celebrate. In order to have the best 3-year cycle, she explains, her most important goal is to create a family of diverse learners in the classroom that challenge and push each other to grow and learn. She's committed to creating a classroom environment where your child is a valued, trusted, and integral part of our community. In order to accomplish this, the Montessori curriculum will be explored to its limits! Ms. Emily's other interests include cooking with Hatch Green Chile, riding her Peloton, and drinking soy vanilla latte's. She is also an activist for equality and sustainability movements in the valley. Emily will be guiding a lower elementary classroom 1st-3rd grades.

Message From Jennifer Collier
We have successfully completed our second week of AzM2 testing. We are incredibly grateful for the partnership with our parents and guardians to make testing go so smoothly. Testing will continue next week (please see the schedule). As a reminder, please have your student bring to school with them:
· A water bottle
· Headphones
· A book to read or something quiet to work on after they finish testing
Thank you!
