NOVEMBER NEWSLETTER
Dearing Eagle Parent Newsletter 2024-2025 Issued: November
Notes from the Principal
We turn our attention to the wonderful joys of giving thanks for the good things we have. At Dearing Elementary, we are grateful for our students and their unique gifts and strengths they bring to our community. We are grateful for our teachers and the countless hours of planning, preparing and preparation to build a culture of academic success and achievement. We are grateful for our parents for their support and encouragement to be the best school we can possibly be for our students.
I want to give a big shoutout to the PTO Board, parents, and staff that worked tirelessly the last few weeks to bring the Fall Fest together. It was an amazing night! Thank You!
We are excited about the many things to come that will help our students and community blaze a trail forward into academic success.

FROM THE NURSE
Happy November, Eagles!
As we embrace the cozy month of November, we will also begin to see an increase in illnesses- colds, flu and tummy bugs! Remember that students are required to stay home if they have a fever (100°+), vomiting or diarrhea within the previous 24 hours. They must be free of symptoms without the use of symptom reducing medication before they return to school. Some rashes and other conditions may also require that your student remain at home. I would very much appreciate notification of illnesses as well, as it is very helpful for me to monitor which illnesses are showing up in which classrooms. Feel free to reach out via email or phone.
Please encourage your students to practice good hygiene like washing hands frequently with soap and water, covering coughs and sneezes with a tissue or elbow, and avoiding touching their face, especially the eyes, nose and mouth.
Also, this is another reminder that it is against PfISD policy for students to carry medication (including cough drops) at school. Whenever possible medication should be given at home instead of school, however, if your child needs medication during the school day, it must be kept and administered in the clinic. Please contact me for the appropriate form(s). All medication must be in the original container and prescription medications must have the prescription label dated within the last year.
If you have any concerns about your child’s health or care at school, please contact me at 512-594-4535 or samantha.vano@pfisd.net.
Stay healthy and safe, Eagles!

CAREER DAY
FRIDAY NOVEMBER 22ND
Eagle Families,
Dearing is once again hosting career day on November 22nd. We're very excited to showcase our community members to our students. I'm sure you've seen information from your child's teacher, but just wanted to remind you there is still time to sign up if you wanted to participate and speak to a class or classes. The deadline to register is Friday November 8th..
Thanks,
Family and Parent Engagement Committee
ENRICHMENT FRIDAYS
Friday Enrichment schoolwide deployment has been a great success! Students are having a great time exploring their enrichment activities.
REMINDER: Enrichment takes place on Fridays from 7:45am-8:15am. Students who come in tardy (after 7:35am) on Fridays will not be able to participate in that Friday's enrichment time. Please make sure your students are getting to school on time.
