Calendar of Events
Colour Explosion
The Colour Explosion on Friday 4th April promises to be a very exciting day. We need everyone to register and start raising money for the P&F that will be spent on items such as classroom furniture and educational line marking. Colour Explosion packs have been sent home with each student and there are some great prizes on offer for students who raise certain amounts of money. Our P&F have worked extremely hard to get this event up and running and I can’t thank them enough for the work they have done. More information is available in the P&F section of the newsletter.
Cricket Carnival
Good Luck to the Year 6's and some lucky Yr 5's as they represent our school at the Interschool Cricket Carnival tomorrow at Karoonda Reserve in Booragoon. Parents and friends are welcome to attend and support the teams.
Parent Teacher Interviews
This year our Kindy to Year 6 staff will conduct their Parent/Teacher interviews on Friday 11th April. The teachers will be available for a face to face or online meeting on this day. This afternoon at 3.30pm you will receive instructions via SeeSaw about booking these meetings. Please note this is a pupil free day.
Away
Next week I have been asked to be involved in a QCESR Review at St Mary’s School in Merredin. I will be away from school from Monday afternoon until Friday morning. Mrs Anderson will be looking after things in my absence.
West Coast Eagles Incursion
Next Wednesday at 11am Miss Jenzen has organised the West Coast Eagles to come to school for a fun and engaging educational presentation that focuses on being the best version of yourself. I believe there will be players involved (not sure who) and the ever-popular club mascot ‘Rick the Rock Eagle’ will also make an appearance. This promises to be a great event for our students (no matter who you support).
Making Jesus Real (MJR) Gathering
Next Thursday at 8.50am we have our MJR gathering in the undercover area. At this gathering one special student from each class (PP to 6) will receive an award for showing the spirit of Jesus in their life. This could be helping our classmates when hurt or upset, using manners, showing gratitude, or even trying your best in everything you do. It’s a special award and one the recipients should be very proud of.
Yr 4 Assembly
I am really looking forward to watching our Year 4 class perform their assembly item in the hall next Friday morning (4th April). Please remember we start our assembly items at 8.50am. I know there will be lot of family members there to support our Year 4 class. It promises to be lots of fun!
Volunteering
The Government of WA have amended the Working with Children Act last year with the changes implemented to better protect children. Catholic Education WA has mandated this process for all volunteers, including parent volunteers in schools. This includes parents who wish to volunteer at sports carnivals, in classrooms and at P&F events. Could we ask that all parents fill in the Volunteer Declaration (link) even if you have no plans at this stage to volunteer at school. If you filled out the form last year you will need to do it again this year. Parents who wish to assist teachers on excursions will need to be on this list. Your information will be stored securely in accordance with CEWA’s Information Stewardship. We highly value parent volunteers' time and contribution to our school community and thank-you for taking the time to submit the form below.
Any grandparents that wish to volunteer in the classroom or assist in the canteen will need a Working With Children Check. Please note this does not include drop off, pick up or attendance at our Grandparents Mass and Morning Tea. Grandparents that would like to volunteer at school, please contact the school office and we can assist you in the process.
Best Wishes
Mark Ryan
