HTHS Leadership Team Visits Magnolia Elementary
Under the direction of Nurse Dana DePew, Trussville City Schools Lead Nurse, HTHS Student Leadership Team Facilitator, and Chick-fil-A Leader Academy Liaison, HTHS Student Leadership Team members visited Magnolia Elementary, read aloud several books to Magnolia students, attended recess and assisted in specials and physical education classes, and ate lunch with students. Thank you to these student leaders and Nurse DePew for organizing and bringing Magnolia this fun-filled literacy event.
Also, many thanks go to the Chick-fil-A cow and Kiana Cooper, Chick-fil-A Marketing Director, for making a grand entrance to classes throughout the morning, bringing excitement and laughter, and spreading the joy of reading. Magnolia appreciates Chick-fil-A's generous donation of a set of books for each child in kindergarten through 2nd grade, as well!
Landry Pate, Magnolia Kindergarten Teacher and former member of the HTHS Leadership Team and Chick-fil-A Leader Academy, stated, "The Magnolia students loved having older kids to look up to and read to them, and it was a great opportunity to build relationships and foster a love of reading. The students were so excited about taking the books home! In fact, my experiences of being a HTHS peer partner and serving on the Leadership Team helped me decide that I wanted to become a teacher."
Congratulations to the following students for being named September Students of the Month at Hewitt-Trussville Middle School:
Jillian Benson, Steve Tran, Hudson Mitchell, June O'Kelley, William Hodgin
and Charly Solomon. Keep up the great work, HTMS!!
Paine Elementary 5th Graders Explore Observations Using the Scientific Method
After studying the scientific method, Mrs. Felt’s class at Paine applied their learning in a toilet paper strength lab. Students tested a variety of toilet paper to see how many pennies each brand of toilet paper would hold. They created bar graphs to record their results and review their data.

HTHS Chromebook Distribution - A Collaborative Effort
We are immensely grateful to our fantastic volunteers from First Baptist Church and our dedicated PTO members. Teaming up with the HTHS teachers, student library aide, the HTHS Library Team, and our district technology team, they've been hard at work preparing new Chromebooks for our 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students!
This collaborative effort ensures that our students will have the tools they need for a successful academic journey. Here's to enhancing learning experiences and fostering innovation!
Cahaba Elementary Hosts Family Night Book Fair
Family shopping night at the book fair is a cherished tradition that brings joy and excitement to both young and old. Students eagerly explored the shelves, searching for new adventures to embark upon, while parents reminisced about their favorite childhood books. Family night at the book fair is not just about buying books; it's about fostering a love for reading, creating lasting memories, and strengthening the bonds that hold families together through the pages of a good book. After shopping, families enjoyed dinner provided by food trucks on the school lawn. It was a great night! Thank you Cahaba families for supporting the school library!
