The Wolfpack Edge

Greetings
The Wolfpack Edge serves as a weekly communication to our parent community. We'll send it to your inbox each Thursday during the school year. If you would like the newsletter to be sent to an additional account, let us know! Grandparents & supporters may request to receive the communication, too. Please email Mrs. Kathy Mouw with contact information: Kathy.Mouw@westernchristianhs.com
Thursday’s chapel sets in front of all of us the wonderful calling to celebrate all life! The ProLife Pack has planned a chapel that will use songs, Scripture, and personal stories to set God’s incredible plan and design for all life in front of us. Our time will conclude with a Bake Sale which will donate all proceeds to the Alpha Center and a Baby Blanket project. Thanks to our ProLife Pack and may we worship our Creator by valuing and protecting all life!
Please consider joining us for chapel by subscribing to Western Christian High School Livestreams on YouTube.

STEWARDSHIP & SUSTAINABILITY
As we begin a new calendar year, Western Christian’s Board of Trustees and Leadership are thoughtfully and strategically planning for the future, keeping our mission at the heart of every decision. Our goal is to ensure that Christ-centered education remains vibrant, accessible, and sustainable for generations to come. We kindly invite you to take a moment to read this important message, titled "Stewardship and Sustainability."

Reminders & Updates
FOOD SERVICES UPDATE
Western Christian is proud to offer our students an outstanding food services program, including breakfast options. We are grateful to Head Cook Nancy Driesen and her dedicated team for daily preparing nutritious, delicious, and cost-conscious meals. We would like to inform parents that meal prices will be adjusted beginning the second semester due to ongoing increases in food costs. Over the past three years, Western has only increased meal prices by a total of $0.25 per meal, despite significant inflation in grocery costs. Starting this semester, the price per meal will increase from $4.25 to $4.75, and the cost of extra milk will rise from $0.40 to $0.50. These adjustments align with the National School Lunch Program standards. If you need assistance with paying for school lunches, free and reduced-price lunch forms are available in the front office. Thank you for your understanding and support as we continue to provide high-quality meals for our students.
JumpSTART INFORMATION MEETING
Is your student (or incoming student) interested in the JumpSTART Program? Want to learn more about JumpSTART but not sure where to start? Join us on Tuesday, January 28th at 7 PM! Here, Shawn DeStigter, JumpSTART Administrator, will be giving out information, answering questions, and helping students see a path for their high school careers in JumpSTART!
OPERATION PROM
If your high school girls have gently used dresses or dress shoes/sandals that are sitting around in the closet, please consider donating it to a great cause (Operation Prom) for other high school girls in need of a prom dress. You can bring it to Western Christian’s front office by Wednesday, January 29th or drop it off directly at Centerpoint Church, 160 10th Street SE, Sioux Center, IA. This event is for all students currently enrolled in 7-12 grade interested in a healthcare career. We do have limited space so please have your students sign up as soon as possible. Visit here to register. Visit here to learn more.
PROFESSIONAL LEARNING
This week for professional learning, teachers spent time reporting on their progress for their own learning goals. They shared their work for the year with a small group as well as recording it for themselves on their goals document.
SECOND SEMESTER SCHEDULES
Students may add classes through Friday, Jan. 24 to their schedule. Students may drop classes as long as they keep six Western classes in their schedule through Friday, Jan. 31. Students are to follow their schedule as it is in JMC. Mrs. de Boom will email students when schedule changes have been made.
STUDENT SUPPORT
At Western Christian High School, we recognize our students’ unique creation and the variety of God-given talents and skills. We know that each student presents a unique combination of such strengths. We believe it is our responsibility to meet students where they are at in their journey and equip them with the tools and resources required to exceed their potential. To meet the need, we have a Student Support Team with a variety of resources. Go here to learn more about who to connect with!
