Oak Leaf Weekly Update
River Oak Charter School
From the Alliance for Public Waldorf Education
In our interconnected world, we are all painfully, graphically, aware of the tragic situation unfolding in Ukraine - and in too many other places in the world - and of the disruption, suffering, and loss being experienced by so many. As educators, we especially hold the children of Ukraine in our hearts and thoughts. Our circle of colleagueship extends across the globe: there are five Waldorf schools and one curative school in Ukraine.
"Let there be peace on earth, and let it begin with me."

2nd Grade celebrates Holi
Our school celebrates festivals throughout the year that represent a variety of cultures to help mark the transitions in seasons and to ground us in the experience of the world around us.
Holi is a joyful Hindu Spring Festival and celebration known as the Festival of Colors. It marks the end of the winter's darkness and calls for rejoicing in the bloom of spring time. Bright colors are everywhere as people throw “abeer” and “gulaal” (colorful powders) into the air, and on one another, to express their joy in the arrival of Spring.
Our very own Ms. Douthit shared this tradition with her students through story, song, and of course, celebratory powder!
