The Wildcat Weekly
October 28 - November 1
Happy Weekend GIS,
We are entering our last week of October; how is that possible?! This email contains a few essential things for you. The first affects your taxes. Please fill out the online form linked below.
Schools are required to provide the state with income information for every family with enrolled students by October 30th. Because this information is used to calculate property taxes, it’s essential that every family in our district participates, regardless of income level.
Outside of voting, this is the best way to keep taxes in our district under control. Follow this link: https://datacollection.education.vermont.gov/HIF/ to complete the quick, easy online form. The form is only open until Wednesday next week, so be sure to do it as soon as possible. Students, schools, and residents will all benefit. To everyone who has already completed it, we appreciate your help.
The second is a survey for families regarding an idea that is brewing. You can follow this link to the survey: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeiqq5AXWakKaPwgB-y5hpLsPRmjw_od7jQPxO0--9AT2jOTg/viewform?usp=sf_link
Please see other important information below and pictures below that capture:
- Barn dance practice
- Place value Kahoot!

Veteran's Day Project
Veteran's Day is a very important day for lots of people, including myself. My brother is a retired Army Ranger and served three tours in Afghanistan. He might be my little brother, but I look up to him. He spends his days now with his family (wife, two sons, and his dog), owns a fishing charter out of Rhode Island, and works as a mechanical engineer for a tugboat company out of Providence, RI. I'm pretty grateful for him!
So many of you also have loved ones and friends who are in the service. Let's honor them.
Here's my brother, Ian, doing one of the things he LOVES, skydiving!
This Google Form will prompt you to make a copy.
Please share this Google Doc after you have added a picture and written about the Veteran you know. You can share the Google Doc with ahanlon@gisu.org
I will print them out and hang them up around our school.

Talking about the election and the process the election follows, tends to occur more in high school, however, there are important aspects of voting that are important, even at a very young age- such as having a voice through voting.
Simple acts of, "Would you rather wear the blue shirt or black shirt?" start to build foster the idea of voice and choice.
