FROM DOAN'S DESK....
Watch this video introduction to the school year and Mayhem!
This may be the most excited I have ever been to send out a Principal’s message! I’m proud to announce that we are starting a new homecoming tradition this year called “Monarch Mayhem”. It will be a week of incredible events that ends in the most exciting assembly, both a celebration of all that we can create and a competition between the four grades. To pull this off we will need the participation and help of all 1500 students, staff members, and parent volunteers. To learn more about what we are doing be sure to follow the links below to get all the information you will need.

- You're going to have a chance to find your classrooms, go through your schedule, figure out how lunch works, and hopefully feel more confident and comfortable as a student at Monarch.

- You CAN bring a cell phone as we will be using them to set up some helpful communication channels.
- School lunch is free for all students, but you need to know your BVSD student ID number. You are also free to bring a lunch from home if you want.
- A MoHi 360 leader should be getting in touch with you and your parents soon if they haven't already. They will be able to answer most of the questions you have.
- If they can't, or if you haven't heard from your 360 leader, look for the contact information for the 360 Coordinators at the bottom of this page and get in touch with them.

FREE & REDUCED PROGRAM APPLICATIONS
Free & Reduced Price Program Applications
Although school meals are free, we strongly encourage eligible families to fill out the Free and Reduced Price School Meal application; doing so might qualify your family for reduced fees and impact funding for your school. If your family received an email with a F&R notification letter for the 2024-25 school year through DirectCert, you must fill out the sharing form linked within the letter to share your status with your school to receive benefits.
If you have not received a notification letter and your household income is within the guidelines to qualify (found on right side of FRL webpage), fill out the Free & Reduced Price School Meal application found in your Infinite Campus Parent Portal of Infinite Campus under More > Meal Benefits. More program info can be found on our site. If you have questions, please contact Lola Campos-Herzfeld at dolores.campos-herzf@bvsd.org.

Mark your calendars now for October 14th - 18th and our Homecoming week of events we are now calling “Monarch Mayhem”.
Something that we are going to push forward on this year is the schoolwide and community engagement we have through the traditions of homecoming. We want to elevate the experience for our students to make it more inclusive of our entire student body and our feeder schools in Louisville and Superior. Students, your leadership and involvement will be vital to Monarch’s school spirit going bigger and better than you have ever seen. Parents, we will be seeking out your active engagement and support for Monarch as we try and pull off something extraordinary.
TRAFFIC
TRAFFIC
If you are returning to us, you are well aware that traffic flow into Monarch in the mornings can present a challenge. Traffic challenges are particularly acute during the first several weeks of school. Please remember, ALL of Campus Drive is 20 MPH. You can find a map of our traffic flow pattern here.
Parents should not drop off or pick up students in the staff parking lot.

2024-25 STUDENT SCHEDULES
Welcome to the 24-25 school year! As we begin the school year, we know you are excited to see your schedule. They will be available in Infinite Campus the afternoon of August 7th. If there are any mistakes, you must see your alpha counselor during your grade level check-in days. Due to the volume of emails at the beginning of the year, counselors will not be able to respond to schedule change requests via email. Please plan to attend your scheduled back to school registration day August 8th or 9th. We will be available all day.
The goals of the school to provide small class sizes and academic equity will be considered first and foremost. Because schedule changes create a ripple effect that impacts class size and student learning, counselors will only be changing schedules for specific academic purposes.
Valid reasons for a schedule change request include:
If a student did not get a core academic course on their schedule that was requested
If a student has not met the prerequisite to be in the current course
If a student needs a course in order to meet graduation requirements
If a student needs a course in order to meet college entrance requirements
Please note, counselors are not able to make changes to schedules that include period changes (including lunch), teacher changes, or adding classes.
**Paper copies of your schedule will not be available at check-in. Please use Infinite Campus to check your schedule.**
